I sold the idea of this vehicle to my wife as a custom hauler to take the family, pets included, on the road as we travel the country and see the sites. Our travels often take us through Moab and Colorado back country and 4 wheel drive is a necessity. While this E450 already has a limited slip diff, we all know that is mostly good for getting you into trouble. Alas I have bought a vehicle close to what I was wanting to build here and have decided to let this go.

Let's start at the beginning. I found the E450 for sale from an ambulance dealer in Houston with just over 28K miles on its legendary 7.3L diesel. Let's see, a 2003 with only 28k what gives!!?? Great question. Well, its was the vehicle for the chief medical examiner in a section of DC and didn't see a lot of use. There were plenty of coffee stains we removed though.



There was no pass thru from the cab to the box and the box deck was all diamond plate. Well, a pass thru was mandatory and that diamond plate ached to see the sun.





The cutting began.




This is not my first former emergency vehicle and one of the things that urks me the most it looking like an emergency vehicle.
