No we don’t.
Yes it was a generalization NOT all over pay, but I sell overlanding/campervan rigs for a living and hands down 90% California’s have brought in vehicles that they over paid for or seem to feel like they need to spend a lot of money on things they don’t really need Based on how they plan to use the vehicLe. They also seem to love to over pay so they can tell people how much they’re rig cost (KeepIng up or ahead of the Jones). I have seen this countless time over the last 5 years. Case in point... in this for sale ad why remove a low mile 7.3psd to swap in a Cummins.? The 7.3psd is known to be a solid engine, the Cummins is equal to not better than the 7.3. At the end of the day people can do what they want with their money & I have no problems taking it but I like to try and educate them before doing so...sometimes they listen sometimes they don’t... & I’ll close by saying again it was a generalization but in that generalization I’ve dealt with more people from California that fall into overpaying than not. ?

Pretty sure it was a 6.0 and I am sure you are aware they are junk!

I disagree the cummins is only equal to the 7.3. Gets better mpg, less moving parts and no glow plugs !

MSD I think that's wrong, there is some 6.0's in later or select 2003 F-series trucks and Excursions - there is also some 2003 7.3's as well we would have to check VIN to know for sure. Let's just hope it was a 6.0.

I do hate taking a good factory truck and heavily customizing - ie engine swap, transmission swap. I would not want to own such a heavily customized vehicle unless I was the one overseeing customization just too much extra to know about a vehicle. I'd rather have a less dependable factory setup that I know can easily be diagnosed and fixed than a Frankenstein truck that can only be fixed at builder or what not. I think the best practice is to try and pick your vehicles with the best given drive-trains from factory. Examples: 7.3 ford w/6sp, 5.9 cummins 12v w/5sp, 3.4 toyota v6 w/5sp, etc. Not a fan of too many newer engines but would do a Duramax / Allison combo.

Side note: I have a 2002 Ford F550 6spd 4x4 7.3 flatbed dump work truck it's one of the best vehicles I've ever owned.
