With a heavy heart I am listing my expedition truck. I love this vehicle and had intentions to keep it forever but I need more doors and a longer wheel base.
I bought this truck in 2021 as an arborist truck and have done the restoration and up-fitting to its current state.
Interior 8/10 (power locks/windows, cruise, rubber floor, cloth split bench)
Exterior 8/10 nice paint for its age
Specs:
2003 F-450 7.3 (165” WB 84” CA) (16,000# GVWR)
4.88 gearing, LSD rear
ZF6 manual transmission
NP271 manual transfer case
Dana 60 front and Dana 80 rear
Power windows and locks
86k original miles (second owner, clean title)
Stock motor NEVER tuned.
Restoration:
Chassis was stripped of equipment and wire wheeled down then painted with tractor chassis paint and sealed.
When replacing the windscreen we found some surface rust and paint issues from the previous windshield install. We had the entire windshield reveal restored by Spray Craft in Reno. Then the new windshield glass was installed perfect.
Leaks: 7.3’s are quite the antiquity now a days and that comes with a lot of minor repair if you are getting one set up for world travel.
I’m happy to say this truck is leak free. Motorcraft/International parts only.
Modifications:
Buckstop Super single steel wheels 20x11(5)
Continental MPT81 335/80/20 (5)
Centramatic Wheel balancers (4)
Bilstein 5100 duals in front, singles in rear.
Bilstein 5100 steering stabilizer
6.7 Powerstroke Starter (quickest starting 7.3 around)
Extreme Outback belt driven air compressor
8cfm @100psi with chucks on each side of the tray. This airs up the tires very quickly. Takes about 20 minutes for all 4 from 10psi to 40psi
Donaldson air filter
Diamond eye 4” turbo back exhaust
In the last 1k miles the entire front end was redone with new HD parts.
Kryptonite ball joints (lifetime warranty)
Dorman Rugged Duty tie rods/draglink/sway bar links
Inner/outer axle seals (even the outer-outer one that no one ever replaces on axle shaft)
New sealed front ujoints
More maintenance:
Pinion seal replaced
Carrier bearing replaced
Driveshaft rebuilt with sealed ujoints
Transmission fluid changed for Redline
Transfer case fluid changed to Redline
Boost control solenoid
S&B body mounts
Rear diff fluid changed
Titan 40gallon aft axle poly tank (500 miles easy with mixed road driving)
Ford oem cab lights
Maintenance is meticulous and I have a lot of paperwork to back it up.
Bike box/tray
There is a 28” aluminum storage (tunnel) box behind the cab which has mounts for 2 mountain bikes on a sliding tray.
Also can store a lot of other gear when the bikes are inside such as skis, bouldering pad, wetsuits, short surfboards, tools, fluids, small motorcycle.
The box is a great way to keep gear out of the camper and store it safe and securely.
The tray is 100”L x 80” W
Constructed of 2x4 .140 wall steel tube
Fenders are aluminum and removable
4 tie down points for a slide in camper
L-track on the front sides for hammock or more tie downs.
