Wife bought a new Lincoln Navigator so her daily driver LR3 needs to be sold!
We purchased it used in 2014. It was designated as a salvage vehicle on the title and we were told it was due to the lights being stripped out (head & tail lights). We have maintained it like we do all of our other vehicles and did have some electrical issues at first, but they were all attributed to a clogged sunroof drain hole, which was allowing water to get into the wiring harness in the passenger side floor/door area. Once this was rectified all electrical "gremlins" disappeared.
We used the LR3 to make trips back and forth to the lake (165 mile each way) routinely through out the summer and the wife ran errands in it. I figure this LR3 is a perfect candidate for someone to modify into their trail rig since its cheap (we paid $7500 when we bought it), has some hail damage on the hood or "bonnet" from our last hail storm in November. We never had any problems with any of the 4wd functions, it all works as designed. I think it's got a lot of usable life remaining and the price is right!
Service history during our ownership:
- Dealer cleaned out sunroof drain tube, replaced brake lamp $480
- Oil changes as required
- Resurfaced front rotors
- Dealer replaced front cowl and wiring $464
- Dealer bought new key fob and programming (2 key fobs included in sale) $373
So as you can see we haven't had any big problems. The only other thing to mention is if the car sits for weeks the airbags leak a bit and the car lowers some, but comes right back up when its started.
All the photos and a short video can be seen here:
