I am looking at a 2006 pathy that has a steering issue. it's really hard to turn. they are not asking much for it. just wondering if this is a common issue with these?

I have not looked at it, it's a 3 hr drive away. It was put up on local classifieds stating it was for sale for 1800 canadian, and said it is really hard to steer, and they have a new vehicle so they just parked this one.

There are a slew of reasons but my guess is bad power steering pump. Mostly because my Canadian R51 has a whiney pump. 3 hours is a long way on a guess though.

Depending on the mileage it still sounds like a pretty good deal, if that is the only issue. There obviously could be a lot more. The R51 is a great platform though IMO, especially the Canadian S models (All-mode 4x4, engine block heater, highest payload)

3 hours away, abandoned because of problems...
It would have to be nearly free to even consider it.

Ignor my comment about rust. I was thinking of the old R50 ('96-04) pathfinders. The '06 is a good platform. Pretty much the same as the Frontier that is still in production today.
Usually the biggest issues are transmission problems caused by a bad cooler in the radiator. So long as you keep the antifreeze out of the transmission they are pretty solid.
