2007-14 FJ automatic transfer case swap into a Tacoma/4Runner?

After ~1 week with my new Dana 60 rear axle with manual e-diff locker, I am hugely impressed, wishing I had done the axle swap a long time ago. My front axle is an ARB locked factory unit. I am on 4.88 gears with 12.5x35 tires.

While I don't need to flat tow, having a true neutral seems promising. Getting away from the servos in the factory Tacoma transfer case seems like a reasonable thing to do as well.

What are the pro's and con's of this mod in terms of really remote travel outside of the continental USA? Specifically, Alaska this Summer, and Central and South America next year, or possibly the remote Australian outback.

Assuming the 2007-2014 Automatic FJ transfer case is ~$3,000USD, and the install and shifting support is another ~$1,000. Given a similar ~$4,000USD budget, what primarily mechanical transfer case options are recommended?

My goals are durability and reliability without much or any trail maintenance and reasonable support in third-world remote locations on continents other than North America.

TIA,
Sid
