As with most people, life changes and so it has with us as well. After much deliberation and soul searching, we have decided to sell our beloved truck and camper. Hopefully, I can convey all that this truck and camper offer, but suffice it to say, it is a turnkey and proven setup that always garners attention wherever you go. I will list the modifications and replacement parts below. I want to stress that because me and my wife spent the majority of our time in the backcountry by ourselves, the truck had to be absolutely perfect; therefore, if anything even remotely showed any wear or potential of failure, it was either upgraded or replaced. You will see a lot of replacement of parts as seemingly low miles, but because we originally built it to travel to South America, I did not want to take any chances and wanted to start with everything in the best condition as possible. I only used the best parts available and this truck camper needs nothing if you are planning on remote camping or heading for South America. The truck currently has 213k miles, but runs absolutely perfect and needs nothing. Please refer to my build thread in my signature for details. So here we go.

Price: $79900.

Truck:

2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Classic, Duramax (LBZ), Allison (6 speed) LT (2) package. It is an extended cab, short bed truck. The LBZ is the holy grail of Duramax engines as it was the last of the pre-emissions diesels and it has all of the upgrades to include the addition of the 6 speed Allison transmission. I am the second owner and the truck was purchased in 2010 and has always been a northern Nevada/California truck. The original owner lived near Susanville, California. It has ZERO rust anywhere on it. It was ordered with the LT 2 trim which means it left the factory with power windows, locks, cruise control, dual climate controls (to include heating and air for rear passengers), and the Bose sound system. It originally had power (driver’s) cloth seats. I upgraded it to full power leather seats for the front occupants and both seats have full adjustments. There are no rips or tears in the leather and they have been covered with Covercraft seat covers since I installed them. The factory head unit was upgraded to an Alpine iLX stereo for Apple Car Play and Bluetooth. Buckstop bumper with Warn 12k winch installed. Full tinting with 3M security filmed installed.

Modifications:

Probably the big one that everyone notices is the Straight Axle Conversion. I used a 2007 F350 front Dana 60 axle that was completely rebuilt to include 4.56 gears and an Eaton E-Locker front locker. All new balljoints, brakes, tie-rod ends, U-joints, seals, track bar bushings, Timken unit bearings and Warn front locking hubs. The install include King remote reservoir 2.5” shocks tuned by WFO Concepts specifically for Duramax SAS conversions. Installed at 160k.

The rear axle is the stock AAM 11.5” axle with 4.56 gears and the factory G80 Limited slip with Fred Goeske wheel spacers to both match the increased width of the front axle and change the wheel bolt pattern to match the front Ford patter of 8x170mm. The rear shocks are Fox 2.0 remote reservoir dual adjustable for rebound and compression. The rear springs have been upgraded to support the camper.

Tires and Rims: the rims are factory 18” Ford forged aluminum that I had powdercoated. I had eight rims in total and had six powdercoated and two left as stock. Five of which have been in rotation since the SAS. The tires are Cooper AT3 XLT 285x75r18’s. This set of tires were installed at 190k by Discount Tires and because of the five tire rotation, each tire has approximately 25k miles on them and were just rotated and balanced. They are warrantied and covered and can be taken to any Discount Tire for work.

The engine currently has a John Kennedy 40hp tow/safe tune that also compensates for the gearing and tire change. The Allison has a Transgo Jr. shift kit installed and the transfer case was replaced at 195k with a brand new case from Merchant Automotive with their oil pump protection. Headgaskets were replaced and ARP head studs installed at 168k. Turbo was replaced with new Garrett factory turbo at 195k when the turbo vanes where showing signs of sticking. Entire cooling system was replaced at 160k.

The truck has OBA installed that includes an ARB twin pump, air tank and air outputs front and rear.

As noted earlier, the truck was originally a short bed truck (6.5’). I took the frame from another truck and added it to the rear of the stock frame to increase the length of the bed to 8’. I then had Alum-Line build a flatbed to match the frame extension.

Camper:

2018 BundutecUSA Free tray model. We had the camper built by Rory and crew to our specifications and to perfectly fit the custom flatbed and truck. I will try and list everything it has. 320 Watts of Zamp solar on the roof, Dometic windows and roof vent, Maxxair roof fan, 200 am/hr lithium battery with lithium controller, 1000 watt inverter, dual 20lb propane tanks, north-south queen bed with under bed storage. 50l Waeco chest fridge on 500lb slides (if buyer has their own refrigerator, then that can be negotiated), indoor shower with a Bullfinch shower head, external Bullfinch shower point with Quick Pitch shower enclosure, Truma Combi water heater/furnace unit, 50 gallon fresh water tank with .5 micron water filter with UV light for water purification, Carefree Awning, Dometic two burner stove and sink, Wrappon Green toilet, 12 volt and USB plugs throughout the camper, Lagun table support, Redar BC to DC charger to charge the camper battery. The canvas was originally white, but I have since painted it with upholstery paint to make it better blend with the top is up. Also the interior has had additional insulation added to the canvas portion of the camper. The roof is lifted with the Rieco-Titan roof lifting system.

This truck/camper has been featured in Peterson’s 4Wheel and Offroad, Down2Mob did a YouTube video, and it was chosen to be a part of the Four Wheeler’s 2020 Overland Adventure. This truck will complete 1000 mile days on the interstate or hundreds of miles of backcountry travel and has been all over the mid to west United States, mainland Mexico and Baja, MX as well. We have put over 50k miles on the truck and camper since 2018.

I am sure there are things not listed and because I am trying not to make this a full novel, but I can answer any specific questions you may have.

Hi Jack,

My wife and I are very interested in your vehicle. We live in another state and would need to travel to see this amazing, well-crafted vehicle you constructed. Our goal as a couple is to continue with traveling to many other states while keeping your standards high on cleanliness, structure and appearance. This video was just striking as we learned how crafted you were in building this top-notch vehicle. Can we call you tomorrow?
