It is back for sale; NARV 1.0 - https://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/n-a-r-v-2008-chevy-express-awd-project.132224/
2008 Chevy Express 1500 AWD - Adventure Camper Van (AKA NARV) - $10,750
5.3L LT Vortex V8 Motor
Location: Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
VIN: 1GNFH154281207314
216,439 Miles
Fully provisioned, turn-key, All-Wheel Drive Campervan ready for adventure. Ingenious floor plan allows for side and rear entry, or to store long items inside (skis, snowboard, bike, fishing poles, etc). Perfect for a solo traveler, but can be easily adapted to sleep 2. Fully provisioned with water, electric, 12v Fridge/Freezer, Diesel heater, and more. Runs perfectly, no lights or leaks. Has been and continues to be SUPER reliable. Originally an Oklahoma Fleet Vehicle. Has lived in Florida and Colorado since…no rust belt or New England. Recently driven cross-country (yet again). Literally COMPLETELY turnkey ready for adventuring (or living). Everything Works, Power Windows, Power Locks, Keyless Entry, Cruise Control, All Wheel Drive, Traction Control, Towing Package, Tilt wheel, 5.3L Liter V8 Vortec, 6,000lb Towing Capacity, TPMS. New Drivers seat bottom cushion installed.
My family bought it in 2014 with 75k miles and it has been an adventuring vehicle since. You can see the first build at https://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/n-a-r-v-2008-chevy-express-awd-project.132224/. We’ve always put in Mobile1 Synthetic. Have had absolutely no mechanical issues the entire time we’ve owned it. Only maintenance items (wheel bearings, batteries, plugs/wires, tie-rods, etc. The entire time we’ve owned it, it has averaged between 12-16mpg.
It has been an amazing which has been on many-a adventures….and it shows. There are some bumps and bruises from where trees jumped out at it. Paint is showing its age, but still shines in most places. If we kept it longer, we planned on bed-lining the whole thing. The only light on the dash is the Airbag, because the rear side-curtain bags were removed in 2018.
Issues: Plastic on Gauge Cluster is broken. Radio has gotten finicky with temperatures. Oil dip stick holder is loose. And with any Colorado offroader….it could use a new windshield.
Clean Title and Emissions Test in Hand (Jul 2024). Motivated to sell. Make an offer.
