Long story short i have a dual cab gu patrol which was my work truck, running 200kw and have snapped 2 cranks..anyway so bought a dual cab 2010 canter with the 4.9 4cyl tdi. For what it is it goes ok, how ever coming from modified diesels its onl;y natural to make it a crap tonne better.
I sourced a 3' exhaust brake from a fk417 fighter as the stock exhaust is a piss weak 2.25 inch, ive got a place to can do a remap and or unichip which im fine with, but looking at the turbo its bloody small... hooked up a boost gauge and it does 20psi stock, i hooked up a boost t to see if i could get any more boost but topped out at 22 in higher gears.
i havent worried about an egt gauge yet until i do the exhaust, these things must have the most conserative fuel map standard as there is literally zero smoke in any situation.
Eco is basically 17 day in day out towing or not towing
So looking at the turbo, i have the efr 6758 on my patrol and it is a very very nice turbo, and the smaller 6258 with a similar sized motor with smaller rev range i think will be perfect and then remap once thats done.
its extemely hard to find any info on the stock turbo type and size, so im glad i found this forum, hopefully some others have got these things moving a little better.
