2010 4Runner TE Slider/Step

I decided I wanted to have a slider/step combo. Although the stock setup isn't high, it aggrevates an old ankle injury getting in and out. I do see a small lift somewhere down the line, so the 3.5-4" of ground clearence I lost...I'll get back a couple of inches with the lift, especially leveling out the nose.

I really liked the idea of a slider, and after looking at several different designs...I choose the Rocky Road Sliders. Glen and Charlie were awesome to deal with, and I'm very happy with the end result. The quality is fantastic, and I realise by modding it I void any warranty. They bolted up in under an hour with help, and provide an excellent layer of protection, both from the bottom and also now from the side.

The steps were made from 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x .120. It was welded to the bottom of the Rocky Road Slider.

Once everything was welded and ground...it primed and sprayed with two coats of satin black.

It protects the side of the truck from doors and trees...it sticks out about the same distance as the farthest point of the 4Runner. It is taking a bit of getting used to, but I noticed the salt overspray nill after a recent dusting with salt on the road.

I was totally impressed with the quality on the Rocky Road Slider.

If anyone needs the Sketchup file please PM me.

Nice mod. Much needed on the T4R5. I have yet to get into modding ours as it is my wify rig. The Tundra has preoccupied me, but sliders are one of the first things going on ours.
Those RR sliders do look to stick out a bit, but make a nice step to ride on :sombrero:

I realise by modding it I void any warranty.

putting sliders on your rig certainly does not void any warranty. They would have to PROVE that the mod was directly connected to the failure of said warranty part.- like your front ball joints failed cuz your lift put too much strain on them, that may not be covered by your warranty unless you are buds with the service manager.

Thank you...

The warranty I meant was for the Rocky Roads. They actually line up with the bottom of the rocker, and didn't stick out at all until I welded the step on.. great info about the other stuff though.

The junk running boards you buy are about $300-$350....and go up from there. Toyota's OEM are around 500+. I have about $200 in materials and welding supplys. The Rocky Road sliders were $400 plus $65 for shipping....so for $665 I got a serious upgrade from a protection level, and makes it easier to get in and out, wash the roof, and load and secure items on the roof rack.

Looks great. This is what I would like to build or have built for my Tundra. I like the incorporation of the step with the benefits of the slider.
