Dodge redesigned its heavy duty pickup and chassis cab trucks for 2011. The pickups have been on sale for a while, and now the chassis cab models are available, too. (I'm posting this information in the custom camper section because this chassis cab makes a great platform for a large camper.)
A few highlights:
The 2011 Chassis Cab is available with standard cab or crew cab. The crew cab is redesigned, and roomier than the 2008-2010 models were.
The Chassis Cab is available in 3500 (10,200 lb GVWR with single rear wheels), 4500 (16,500 lb GVWR) and 5500 (19,500 lb GVWR) models.
The Cummins 6.7L diesel is available with a 6 speed manual or Aisin 6 speed automatic transmission. The auto trans has a 3 year, 180,000 mile warranty.
The Chassis Cab is available with four cab to rear axle lengths: 60, 84, 108 and 120 inches. That's plenty of room for a 12 foot long custom Alaskan Camper mounted on a flatbed, for example.
A 52 gallon fuel tank is standard. The tank has a port for an second fuel line, which could be used to feed a diesel-powered water heater, forced air heater, and/or diesel cooktop.
The bad news: Prices range from $45,000 to $55,000. Ouch!
