The used cap that was for sale (on a Ranger) had a full rear door. Is that an option now, or did that likely come from a 3rd party?

my flip pack has dual rear doors. its an older verion. 2 rear doors and the latches on the back. i prefer it for my use actually.

I also have a 2011 Crewmax and have been thinking about a Flippac but have been unable to confirm that the model that fits a crew cab Titan will fit. The bed on a Crewmax is shorter and wider than a crew cab Titan so it would be nice to actually hear from someone who has one installed. I've tried talking with FRP to see if they could confirm fitment and email photos, but never get anything back from them. They are devoid of any customer service skills, in fact, their customer service flat sucks. One aspect of the Flippac that really bothers me is the rain fly. For the money they ask for a Flippac, I think it should have an integrated fly, like my roof tent, that deploys when you open the Flippac and has polls to create awnings over the windows so you can be in rain without being in a cave. Anyone that has done any camping in the Sierras knows that you always need to be ready for thunder showers. Please let me know if you are able to confirm fitment on a Crewmax. Thanks

The one for the Titan would not fit a Tundra bed but they do make one to fit. If you're looking for a used one, you'd have to find one that came off a truck with the same size bed as yours, likely the same model and similar year. If you're looking at buying new, they'll have one to fit and can make it without needing your truck for measurements.

Are you sure about that? Every time I talk to them they refer me to photos of a 1st gen tundra on their site. It's just impossible to get a straight answer out of them. I don't want to drive all the way to LA for a Flippac that doesn't really fit my truck, especially after waiting a year for them to make it.

When I bought mine six years ago they used my truck to do the pattern for the crew cab Titan. The way they explained it to me then was that the frame for the tent at the top of the shell is the same for all trucks. They build from the bed rails to the top frame based on the dimensions of the bed and the height needed for the cab. So unless the 1st gen Tundras have the same bed dimensions and height of the cab they aren't the same. They are good at what they do but their customer service is generally lacking. If you can live with that, you'll get a good product. They are sensitive to the fact that their products need to be modified to fit each model change but they don't bother having photos available of every version they make.

I didn't know they measured Shruk before making that one, interesting.

I can't speak specifically to a 2nd gen crewcab Tundra with the shortbed, I have a flippac on a 2007 doublecab longbed Tundra. But my understanding is this:

There are two size lids (the flipping part with the mattress) – one wide for what they call “domestic” trucks and one skinnier for what they call “imports” or “mini-trucks”. With so many new trucks in the game, those names don't really make sense anymore. I call them “wide” and “skinny”.

For either wide or skinny, there are 3 different size bottoms for short, regular, and long beds. You can tell from the pictures on their fabulous gallery which one is which based on amount of cab overhang of the shell. So this one is a wide/longbed:

There was a dark blue 2nd gen Tundra/regular bed at the AT BBQ recently too, pics somewhere.

I'm not sure what truck this is, but it may be a wide/shortbed

There is a wide lip at the bottom of the shell along the length where it sits on the truck bed. On mine it is between 6” – 7” on each side. This allows one shell to fit to a variety of bed widths. My longbed flippac fits on Dodges and Chevys, I know that for a fact.

But it sounds like you're most concerned about the length of the shell. My longbed is 8 feet, and I noticed that the lip in mine is smaller (about 2”) than the lip in the smaller (regular/shortbed) shells. But I've really only seen that in the skinny ones, never seen Shruk uncovered in that area because of his interior build.

IF the smaller shells have a 6” lip there, I would imagine that allows for more variation in bed lengths and it would probably work on your shortbed.

I don't believe FRP maintains more than the ~six or so basic forms for the bottom parts of their shells. I may be wrong about that, could be some older ones. Since most truck beds got deeper around 2005-2007, it would make sense that Shruk got measured around then for shells for the newest gen trucks.

Not sure if that helps, you could try calling AT too - much better customer service! Good luck.

When the Titan came out, it was the first with an extra short 66" bed. Looking at the size of the new Tundra, it's got a bed with similar enough dimensions it would seem, so the question would be cab height. I guess it may fit but I'd want a sure answer before purchasing. If buying new, they will have already made sure they've got the right shell for your truck. If you're looking at a used shell, its time to break out the measuring tape.

I've been contemplating a Flippac long enough that I am aware of everything that has been posted thus far, excluding the fact that Shruk was the template for the Titan model. I have spent hours searching the web for a photo of a Crewmax with a Flippac to no avail, not even a mention of a model that fits it, so I seriously doubt they make anything specific for the Crewmax. It seems way too limited a market way too late in the vehicles lifespan. The current Tundra body has been unchanged since 2007 so it will likely get a face lift in the next 1-2 model years. It would seem feasible, based on dimensions from the Toyota and Nissan websites, that the Titan Crew model could fit a Crewmax and I've been carrying a tape measure with me so I can measure a Titan crew cab model when I see one, might just drop by the local dealer this weekend. I emailed AT about six months ago asking about a model for a Crewmax and they said it was made and that they had photos of one on their website. I emailed back saying I couldn't find the photo of the Crewmax on their website and asked if they could email the photo to me. When they responded with the attached photo it was of the 1st Gen on their site. I emailed back saying that was a photo of a 1st gen not a Crewmax and I never heard from them again. I have done a lot of custom fab work over the years on many different vehicles I have owned, Unimogs, Hummers, etc so my plan, should I get a Flippac is to build my own rain fly as mentioned by homemade. It may be though that I just end up with FWC Hawk.
