Nice find! I'll mark my calendar.

The truck paper ad mentions the Canter series, a term not used by Fuso USA for a long time.

I've never seen a picture of an FE or FG with an extra cab. I think I've seen it on FM's or something equally large.

wouldnt trust the dealer to know any facts about upcoming models... The extra cab listing in the ad could be something as simple as a stupid salesman or a mis-click on a mouse, dont trust that either.

Here is a UD 1800HD (extended cab or Xtra Cab) while the 1800 model (non HD) is the same cab (size) but no extra room behind the seats.

If Fuso and Isuzu and the other small cabover builders would do things like 4wd, Xtra cabs, crew cabs, nicer interiors, etc they could more easily compete with the 3/4 ton and 1 ton truck market. Makes you wonder whether or not they really care about selling trucks here when there are so many obvious things that would make them sell better..

While there certainly is a demand for those extra cabs etc in our market segment ,I suspect the cabover builders are well aware that the vast majority of 3/4-1 ton recreational american buyers are in love with their pickups and that isn't likely to change anytime soon.

The FG 4x4 has got my interest - but I recall renting a Mitsubishi box van a few years ago & the ride was next to unbearable - we rode sitting straight up with our faces just inches from the windshield:( That's the first thing my wife reminded me of when I broached the subject of a Mitsubishi instead of a plush Silverado 3500!

You can change upholstery, do a number of other cosmetic upgrades, but when it's all said & done, just what is the 'C' factor in these units? (C= comfort:) Is it like a rental truck or ??

The FG - its a truck and rides like a truck
there are modifications you can do to make it a little less of a truck but at the end of the day, its a truck
the beautiful thing about them is they've got personality
look around how many silverado's do you see
anyone can be one of the majority
its the individuals that make the world go round
Ive just dragged my wife through the pilbra and kimberly in west aus for 6 months
she survived

Earlier this year I was thinking it would be nice to have a crew cab and more power so I talked my wife into riding along as I test drove a Dodge 5500, a Ford F450, and a GMC 3500HD. She was totally underwhelmed and found all the trucks somewhat confining compared to the roomy Fuso cab. So all right then.....
