2013 Ham Tech Class - Northern California

I posted this notice in the CA forum as well.

If anyone in the San Francisco Bay area is looking for both a tech class and a test, our Club is putting on a class/exam session next weekend. (Feb 15, 2013) The class begins on Friday night and runs through noon on Sunday. It is followed up after lunch with a testing session. The class is NOT a memorize the answer approach but an in-deph immersion type of class where you will actually learn and retain something. We can't guarantee that you will pass, but our pass/fail rate is extremely high. This session is followed up the following Friday night with a how to pick your gear and get on the air class. The cost of the tech class is $15 to cover our cost of the study guide. The exam is an additional $15. There is no charge for the follow up class. We are located in Santa Rosa and have had students attend from as far away as Redding and Fresno. (It really is a great class.) We will be holding at least 3 other sessions throughout the year.

Additional information can be found on our website at www.socoham.org. Or, just PM or email me at KZ6T@arrl.net. So if you are the slightest bit interested, sign up and get the study guide.

Do you know if there is anyone doing this closer to San Diego? I am very interested in taking a class instead of just memorizing the answers. Thank you!

The short answer is yes but you have to do a little searching though. Here is how
Go to the ARRL website. www.arrl.org
Pick the link for CLUBS
in the search parameter for SECTION, scroll down to San Diego
Pick search
It will return the ARRL affiliated clubs in the area
Look on each of the listing entry level classes, then go to that clubs website. It's pretty early in the year and many clubs have not posted up their schedules yet so you may need to send them an email.

BTW there is tons of information on the ARRL website, most of it is open to anyone.

Let me know if I can help any further.

Thank you I will check that out. I have been finding a lot of testing days but not much in the way of classes to really learn the material.

Charlie56,
When is your next testing date, I didn't see one on your website? I need to schedule an Extra exam to provide the impetus I need to finish studying. You guys are about as close as anyone to me. I look forward to hopefully meeting you soon.

Chris.
We are trying to organize an open session for April 7.
Our website says April 6 but its now looking like Sunday April 7.
It's going to be in conjunction with a newly scheduled tech class that weekend.
Check in with me as it gets closer.
