PuntaArenas,CL...24Nov2013. This is truly "A Trip of a Lifetime". The only negative of the trip was a less than honest operator MotoAdventuraCL But the upside was tons of flat out 100miles a day of mixed pavement and gravel roads. The gravel roads were 30% potholes of variable dimensions...which made for advanced skill riding and much rim damage to ill equipped machines (too bad...riders were charged $1500ea.) The landscape and vistas were spectacular. Food and wine was always a treat at days end. Lunches and the search for fuel was an adventure...this is why you make these trips. Our guide "Thomas" was fabulous!! A transplanted German, married to a Chilean. Spoke four languages and was always in great spirits and most helpful. Made the border crossings, hotels, fuel and meals... manageable and less of a hassle.
Group riding is not my thing, as it rules out options for stops and route changes...but that is the nature of the beast. The 100+mile days were very much like riding "an Enduro" as the pace was frenetic and stops en-route were limited...but the route was aggressive...and many miles were covered in the ride to "Land's End".
