2014 Ram 1500 1/2 Ton Airbag Question(s)

I think I need a bigger truck!
Hello all,
I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Sport Crew Cab 5.7L that I am in the process of building a lightweight slide in camper for. This is going to weigh in at (fingers crossed) about 1100-1200# wet. Thats with 20# LPG and 13 gal of water and the camping basics. This is well under the 1450# payload capacity, but I still think I would like bags to help eliminate sway and sag. I do not have the factory air setup... but wish I did. I do have a set of Air Life coil insert air bags that say they are good up to 1000# payload, but I am not convinced they will help enough? They are great for hauling our trailer however.

I am looking at AirLift load carrying airbags and possibly even their compressor and gauge kit. I have a friend with a similar setup (slide in pop up camper) and he had bags installed and loves them.

I am just wondering if anyone on here has a similar truck to mine and has experience with the AirLift or similar airbag setup? It seems like a no brainer and well worth the $400 ish dollars? It looks like the install is not too awful either? What about those Timbren load bumpers? Anyone have those?

WIll be searching around on here for threads and other places as well.

I run air bags on every truck, they definitely help with sway along with any sag you get. I have ran all brands, they are all about the same. My friend runs air lift with their gage and compressor, it’s nice and works great. I got a set of air lift bags on my 3500, I fill each bag with the schrader valve, it’s easy and works great. I recommend a set of daystar bag cradles that way your not driving around with 10 psi constant and you get better articulation when off-road. Whatever you run, do not plumb both air lines into the same line via a t fitting, keep both lines separate.

I'd give bags inside a coil a fair chance before trying other options.

Sumo Springs Rebel, have made Timbren pretty much obsolete. I'm going that route instead of airbags this time. The lighter blue compound, not black.

I'd skip the gauge and compressor, air bags are pretty much set and forget. Just fill them at the same time you fill your tires. Nothing is worse than tracing air spring leaks at a campground, keep it as simple as possible.

Finally in expo white.
I like the sumo springs on my Chevy. I don't ever have to wonder how much air is in them or if I have leaks. Mine list 1500# of "spring" at 50% compression, which at that point is about where the truck is sitting level.

Your 100% correct, the simpler the better, I have spent many hours tracking down a leak. That sumo spring is a good idead, I’ve never seen one before.
