2014 Rubicon X package ?

I see Jeep is offering an 'X' option for the Rubicon in 2014. Does this offer any functional improvements to the Rubicon? Looks like a bunch of trim options to me. Nothing wrong with a black gas filler cap, of course.

from what I've gathered it's the 10th Anniversary (hence X) rebranded.

also sounds like 3 special editions: polar, freedom & soon to be announced all black one

How much for just the winged monkeys?

I thought the X was lower spec than a Rubi? Maybe this is a Ruby Lite?

Jeep has an X model, which is a bare bones Wrangler. In addition to the X model, they also have a Rubicon X, which is sadly, just a trim upgrade from the regular Rubicon.

I thought the X was earlier in the JK family. Now it's Sport, Sahara, Rubicon. Rubicon X is the 10th anniversary edition.

Too bad, really. I think there is a market for a jeep with the Rubicon drivetrain (axles, gearing, xfer case, tires) and a bare bones interior. I have never really investigated it but would consider a JK Rubi that had a very Spartan interior, lost the bells and whistles, etc... and came down in price accordingly. Might be a reasonable idea for a special edition... Jeep gone a bit oldstyle...

Soft top, half doors, no carpet (maybe rubber), vinyl or another appropriate wipe down seats. Ability to add some of the more practical options such as the mopar bumpers, etc...

Just jeep dreaming this morning, I expect.

I totally agree; maybe even forgo the alloy rims for steelies.

Cheers

If they were to do a stripped down Rubicon Edition, this is what it should entail (IMO)

Rubicon gears, axles, lockers front swaybar discconect.
Vinyl seats
Rubber Floor
Soft Top
Normal Doors with winddown windows, with the option of half doors.
Should come with plastic bumpers, as most guys will change it out so why pay for an upgraded bumper.
They should also consider 16"rims instead of the 17s to keep the price down. Throw on som 255/85R16s or 255/80R16s(do they make this size?)
