Built to outlast the weather, the miles, and your excuses, this isn’t just another average overland build—this is an expedition-ready rig designed for where the road ends and your dreams begins.

One-of-a-Kind: Ready to break free from the ordinary and chase after those dreams? Meet Ronan—a purpose-built 2015 TRD Toyota Tacoma transformed into a self-sufficient, off-grid rig. 4x4, e-locker, 4.88 regear, performance tune, and upgraded King suspension all around. The rear has the "Chevy 63 conversion" : full-size leaf springs (custom made pack) paired with 14" travel dual bypass kings equals long-travel rear end. Total Chaos UCA's with King shocks become a mid-travel kit for the front end. This thing is built to handle remote trails without flinching. Baja Design lighting all around and under, controlled via a Switch-Pro 12-gang switch panel . ASFIR aluminum skid plates to protect the vital under-belly components. Twin ExtremeAire Endura compressors pair with a 2 gallon tank for all of your onboard air needs. The wheels are 17" Ray10's from Stealth Custom Series in the exceptionally limited edition Brushed Gold color. The truck has been regularly serviced and maintained, with synthetic oil changes and tire rotations done every 5,000 miles. Don't let the mileage deter you... Toyotas are well-known for reaching and exceeding the 300,000 mile mark. That's years and years of countless adventures to be had.

No other Tacoma combines this level of craftsmanship, capability, and self-reliance. The custom flatbed camper, inspired by rugged Australian expedition builds, is insulated and four seasons capable. Inside, you'll find purposeful design, ample storage, beautiful finish, and plenty of space to make it your own.

The rear of the truck frame was extended 6 inches and boxed in prior to adding a steel flatbed tray. Atop that sits the all aluminum camper, made of 1" square tubing and aluminum honeycomb paneling. Inside is a beautiful, warm, home-y buildout. 400aH of Battleborn lithium batteries power the camper, paired with a 3,000 watt Victron inverter, solar charging from the 200 watt Renogy panels, and DC to DC (alternator) charging. All of these components easily monitored on the Victron app. 5 gallons of onboard water with a Guzzle H20 water filter, with a 10L grey water tank, complete with an in-cab drain switch. A VELIT gas heater with 3 gallon auxiliary fuel tank keeps the camper toasty warm on those cold, chilly nights out in the wilderness, while a MaxxAir fan keeps the breeze moving on those warmer days. The sleeping area of the penthouse comes courtesy of a HEST memory foam mattress and is on a raisable platform to store up and out of the way of the living space. The three enormous windows of the wedge camper have three layers: screen, clear vinyl, and blackout, offering amazing panoramic views at camp. Atop the back cabinet is a real walnut countertop with sink cutout. LED (multicolored) strip lighting all around with LED dimmable puck lights on the ceiling. The outside kitchen features a single burner induction cooktop, storage space for a few things, a SnoMaster 56L fridge/freezer chest just inside the rear passenger cab, and a Fiamma Awning overhead to provide shade and shelter. The three plug-in ports on the side of the camper are: single 110v outlet, a NOCO AC Port Plug (shore power charging), and portable solar panel charging plug-in.

Why You Can’t Live Without It: This isn’t just a truck—it’s a self-contained passport to freedom. Built from the ground up, this rig lets you escape the daily grind and live life on your own terms. Whether you're chasing sunsets in the desert or waking up to alpine lakes; enjoying just a weekend getaway or making this your full-time home on wheels, this rig makes it all possible—comfortably, reliably, and in style.

Be the envy of every parking lot and gas station you visit. After all, you're not just filling up... you’re fueling up a lifestyle everyone else only dreams about.

For greater walkthrough of the build, please feel free to watch the added YouTube video of the Rig Tour. On that same channel is the entire build series of the camper.

Allow me to introduce Ronan.

  • I’ve also kept track of maintenance service / dates / mileage in little log books for the past few years. Prior to that are toyota dealership service records.
  • I have the original purchase paperwork from the dealership when I drove it off the lot in November 2014

Watched the build series and have seen the rig at the Expos, such an awesome and unique build, GLWS!

Many times I've wished that we never sold our Tacoma. There's a reason that they are so popular. This looks like a pretty amazing camper that has evolved for finding adventure.
