2016 Tiger Adventure Vehicle Malayan HT

zip

I prefer social distancing.

Sill researching my next vehicle.

On top of my list would be an older Earthroamer with a bulletproofed 6.0, and the larger tires. Ideally, I would like to be in the $150-175K price range.
I just saw this advertised, and love the idea of the newer 6.7 versus an older bulletproofed 6.0.

My previous vehicle was a '03 E350 7.3 Q4x4 Sportsmobile pop top. I was very disappointed with the quality of the workmanship.
From what I have heard about ERs, the quality of the workmanship is very good.

Does anyone here know what the quality of the workmanship is of the Malayan, in comparison to the SMB or an ER?
From pictures, it kinda looks like it might be in between. If it is closer to the SMB, I would probably pass.

Thanks for any and all constructive advice and input.

Caveat: I have never seen, much less owned a Tiger Malayan. But, a couple of years ago when I was searching for a vehicle I did some research on Tiger's and lurked to Tiger Owners forum. I recall hearing that the higher-end Tiger models (Malayan and Siberian) had some build quality issues. IIRC, while the "regular" Tiger's were made in South Carolina at the Pro Van shop, the Malayan and Siberian's were made by a contractor (maybe in Texas, not that the location matters). The reason these models were discontinued was problems with quality control. My sense was these issues were fixable. I MAY NOT HAVE THIS STORY RIGHT, so don't rely on me. Maybe going over the Tiger Owner's forum and ask.

Thanks for your input. I have heard the same thing.
I can deal with fixable, which I did on my SMB, but price would need to reflect that.
Since there was a very limited production run on these vehicles, you may have to pay top dollar.

Malayans were all built in Columbia, South Carolina. The camper bodies were sub contracted to the Fitt company.

Malayans use expedition grade components as opposed to the RV grade components of the Bengal, making them much more expensive to build - finally not cost effective. Thus Provan has gone back to making Bengals only which use much older technology, are built entirely in house, and have much greater profit margins.

Great info. Thanks.

That great info came from the "source" as one of the people who helped inspire the Malayan. I tried to purchase several but it never quite worked out. That one looks cool but at $200K was way out of my budget.

Good luck!
