2017 Ford F-150 XLT is a Ruby Red, super cab pickup with a kitted out camper shell on an 8' bed. This pickup features a 6 speed automatic transmission, 8 cylinder 5.0 Coyote engine and 4WD with remote start.
It comes with various safety features like driver and passenger airbags, anti-lock brakes, and traction control.
The interior includes a voice activated navigation system, cruise control, power heated seats, and a top sound system. Front bucket seats with a large center console, 60/40 rear bench seat with storage under the 60 section.
It features alloy wheels, cloth seats, Bluetooth, CD player, XM radio (subscription required), power heated mirrors, a trailer hitch, back up camera and dash mounted trailer steering for added convenience.
The list of options goes on and on.
The Camper Top:
Welded aluminum frame with aluminum skin.
I had this camper top built in November 2021- 40" tall with 2- screened 40" awning windows, 1 fixed clear front window, rack for solar panels, welded reinforcements for the exterior led lights. It has 3/4" insulation in the bays and 1/4" insulation glued to the paneling. I made rigid insulated "curtains" for the front and side windows. There is a shelf across the front above the window and strips to hang things from on each side.
5" high density foam mattress covered in waterproof material for ease of cleaning.
The electric is installed on the cap which makes it plug and play.

Electric system:
2- 100 watt Renogy Solar Panels
30 amp Renogy Charge Controller
1 100AH Deep Cycle battery & box
Max Fan 10 speed, reversible, thermostat and built in rain cover
2- LED interior ceiling lights on master switch and individual switches on each light
2 switched 12v power ports with 4 USB ports
3 pairs of exterior LED camp flood lights with relays, each pair is on its own switch.
1- switched volt meter
Blue Sea Fuse Block
Andersen Connector for solar panels
Battery shutoff switch
Circuit breakers
I spent many nights in it as I toured 15 states over the 21/22 winter in temps as low as 17*. A Buddy heater warms it up pretty quick before bed.
Over $5000 invested building it plus a lot of time.

Although Frred (Ford Ruby Red = Frred) is in excellent condition, he is not perfect. There is a small scratch in the front bumper, a Nickle size ding in the right rear wheel opening and a nick in the windshield. I showed what I could in the pictures.

At 108000 miles service included spark plugs, air filter, transmission service, transfer case service, front and rear differential fluid change along with an oil change (which has been done a number of times since).

Jan 2023, 1238xx miles, 4 new Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 tires installed

Oct 2024, a new Ford engine oil cooler was installed.

May 2025, the left front transmission cooling line the rubber hose part started dripping. Seeing how all 4 lines contained rubber sections, all four lines got replaced.

Currently has 132k miles on it
