I fitted an intercooler cover for cooler protection. It does however sit about 5 inches lower than the actual cooler itself, and I HATE that. It looses ground clearance right where it is needed. It will most likely come off and be modified to fit properly.

What is your plan for modifying the front skid?

I do like how ARB at least provides some sort of protection for the intercooler. I don't know of any other bumper company that does the same for the Ram.

I do like that ARB at least provides protection and they supply one, I agree there. I have no earthly idea why they made it so much larger than need be however. Unless they were thinking of larger cores or something. I will never change mine out, so I don't need the extra room. I would rather have the extra ground clearance. I'll probably cut it where it needs to be, giving an inch or so clearance all the way around, then re-weld.

Well I had not caught this thread till you posted over in mine. ;) Wow, what a beautiful rig and I'm also not a huge fan of white but it looks amazing. I love the Cummins and g56 in my 06 and even after driving it daily for the past 12 years there's not much I'd change (truck wise). We custom ordered ours to get exactly what we wanted and were able to get most everything on our list.

I'm curious to see what you do on a canopy. I looked at a few that were linked earlier in this thread that I had not heard of before but one of them priced out at around $6k for my plans. Yikes. Also looking forward to seeing your new trailer setup. I've considered moving our RTT to our M101a3 but haven't committed to that project yet.

It’s larger for the older gen 4 Rams I believe, they had a different setup out front.

Thanks brother! Love your truck as well. The toppers are expensive for sure, but provide alot for what you give out in $$$. I HAVE to keep our stuff dry, and after years of packing and unpacking box totes and weatherproof cargo bags, I'm done. We also will be switching from ice chests and filling them with ice every other day, getting food soaked, etc. to a fridge/freezer combo, and that must stay dry as well. Im about 99% towards a Snugtop, I am just determining the model I want at this point basically, unless I run across a deal.

Got a King of the Hammers (KOH) bag in from Atlas 46 today. Loaded it up with the truck tools from my old steel Craftsman box, and threw it in the truck. Saved quite a bit of space and bulkiness. Not to mention it is more organized now. Awesome!

Here are a few pics unloaded, with a patch from my favorite knife maker.

And loaded and rolled. I still have one pouch left to fill as well.

Why does it matter with those lights hanging down like that? It looks like they will hit far before the intercooler guard.

I made those lights quick disconnect for that exact scenario, then unplug. Takes literally 30 seconds. I used bicycle quick release levers. Not so much on the skid.

I need those fog lights there much more often than when I will be bouncing around on rocks, I can't quite remove this piece. I have no problem modifying it, simple to do really.

Cool Idea.

Well if you end up modifying that skid, please post pictures showing what you did. I'm sure other ARB bumper owners would love to see how it works.

Not a whole lot to report on additions, but I'm still currently getting parts in for the OBA install. I'm still waiting on some custom hose lengths with the fittings crimped to be built and shipped, then I can get to it. The lighting I will most likely be able to accomplish over the next week or so. Going to be fun making the harnesses for this all. I will be using the XL-80's on the A-Piller mounts, and the Squadron Sports for backup lights in the bumper, look forward to it!

I am not sure the Aluminess bumper is the right choice;

One poster said it has a 150lb load limit,I don't recall seeing that on their site, the pictures they show with the additional generator box make it look like it can hold a lot of weight. I would have bought one if I could trust it,even though I don't think AL is the best material for a rear bumper.I allowed AEV to string me out for a couple of years on a rear bumper, shame on me. I thought a company making trucks with 40" tires would turn out a strong bumper that would hold a spare tire. I guess I will have to make the best of the Expo bumper as I need a bumper and I am getting old.

This is a bit late given you already have the bumper but for others out there, Aluminess is most certainly an excellent option. I had a 2012 Tacoma with Aluminess front and rear bumpers and, while sitting at a traffic light, was rear ended by a car estimated to have been traveling over 60 mph (driver was stoned and had just held up a gas station). The impact completely twisted the frame and broke the drivers seat back but I walked away from the accident with some mild stiffness. I'm sure an ARB bumper would have performed as well but it is much heavier. Living where dumping loads of road salt is the norm in winter, the Aluminess bumper never showed any issues with corrosion, something my friends with ARB bumpers could never claim. The front bumper with winch and synthetic line was easily installed by myself using a floor jack. I have just purchased a Ram 3500 and added a flatbed and will most probably have an Aluminess front bumper installed in the near future.

Cheers
