I do think this a great platform for an overland rig, though not the typical desert runner or highly modified rig posted here. A larger gas tank would be helpful as the current tank is 31 gallon. Cruising 55-60 with no load up to 17 mpg, 55-60 mph with 2000 lbs 12 mpg depending on terrain.
Highlights: We were hoping to have this be a truck we drove until it died, thus the warranty and regular scheduled maintenance. This comes with a transferrable bumper to bumper warranty until 2027 or 140,000 miles, 2,000.00 value. (+) manufacturer 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty. So far this is one of the better years of this model and has given us no problems. Color matched camper shell 2,500.00 value. Mileage will go up as I drive it.
Extremely well maintained moving parts. Oil change over 5k miles or sooner depending on what oil life indicator suggested.
This truck has been off the paved roads very little and carried a camper for a couple of short trips. Most of the miles have been commuting on the highway.
Big horn package with 4x4 hi and lo and hill start. (does not have descend mode, but I've found 4Lo works well in those situations of which I have only encountered once or twice)
