2019+ Ranger's height from bottom of bed to roof of cab?

I don't know why but I'm having a heck of a time finding this measurement and was hoping someone with a Ranger could measure it for me. Just looking for height from the top of one of the ribs to the highest point on the outside of the cab's roof (not including the antenna thing).

I'm going back and forth between a Ranger and a 4runner and I'm trying to figure out if/how my camper might work with the Ranger, but can't find this measurement and unable to get to a dealer anytime soon to get it myself.

Thanks in advance!

I think I have all dimensions written down somewhere. Let me check. The ranger is very odd and most campers won’t fit… for example: the sidewalls are much higher than the Tacoma , the distance between the bed and top of cab is shorter… the bed it self is not full 5’…. On the upside, the payload is much higher than the Tacoma

Really wish the Tacoma had a higher payload. I would go that direction in a second if it had a payload as good or better than the Ranger.

I have an older Eagle, I think a 2001, it is pretty much a perfect fit on my T100, sides are about 1/4 above the bed rails and don't stick out at all and there's just a few inches space above the cab. Sort of hoping the ranger would be similar. I'm leaning heavily toward the 4runner (and selling the T100 and Eagle), but still trying to figure out how the camper would fit on the Ranger (having a furnace and standing space is so very nice and I'm hesitant to give it up). I think it'd need to raise the height of the camper a bit, but that'd be a nice excuse to insulation the floor a bit. Not sure if it matters, but I'd definitely be going with an super cab with the 6' bed. Never really travel with more than one other person and a dog.

Just went out and measured from the top of a bed rib to the top of the cab in my 2021 Ford Ranger and it is 38.5 inches. The sharkfin antenna base is a little less than 3 inches tall with the antenna removed.

I also own a 2002 Tacoma. Not sure how the new Tacomas are, but that 2.3L Ecooboost and 10 speed automatic in the Ranger are awesome. Time will tell on reliability.

Don't remove the antenna ... You will have zero reception.

Thanks for the measurements, I was definitely wondering if that included the antenna or not. I took a quick measurement of my camper from the bottom to the overhang the other day and I came out with somewhere around 40 inches.

Really do love the idea of the Ecoboost mated to the 10-speed. Seems superior to the Tacoma and 4runner engines, but yeah, which I had more info on the reliability as that is super important to me because i tend to keep my vehicles for a decade or more. I've been putting away money for years and want to make sure I get something that will last, because whatever I buy now might be my last vehicle as I'm finishing up my PhD and figure I will probably be paying off my student loans for the rest of my life. :D:oops:?

I've tried the radio with the antenna removed and while it isn't zero reception the reception certainly goes significantly downhill.

Perhaps one of these would solve the problem? Seems like a reasonable price. I'll probably buy one when we pick up our Scout Camper Yoho in February.
Stubby Jr Antenna for 2019-2022 Ford Ranger

I've definitely thought about that antenna and just decided I'd figure it out later if I went with the Ranger. Really not a fan of the shark fin style, I miss the old fender mounted antennas that were easy to deal with. I guess the new ones do a lot more than radio though, so understandable.

I hear you. I've kept all of my vehicles for 12-20 years so far in life and so reliability is important to me too. Like you, I started looking at the Ford Ranger due to it's high payload capacity for putting a truck camper in back. Unfortunately, the Tacoma's are not even competitive with the Ranger in payload. My employer has a F-150 3.5L Ecoboost that I drive, so I knew that I liked the Ecoboost and 10 speeed transmission. Consumer Reports recently rated the 2021 Ford Ranger as the most reliable mid-size truck with the Tacoma third.
Ford Ranger Stuns Toyota Tacoma

I'm not sure that a 2021 assessment of reliability on a 2021 vehicle is worth much, but hey - it made me feel better about my purchase of a 2021 Ford Ranger. :D Hopefully I'll still be feeling good about it 10 years from now.

Good luck with your PhD and tackling those student loans - hope you get a truck that works well for you.

Any chance you could take a measurement from ground to lip of bedrail for right behind the cab, and again at the tailgate? I'm curious :)

2.3 Ecoboost has been in service since 2015. It’s been a good engine. I’d have no concerns regarding reliability. Power is better than the 3.5 in the Tacoma and the auto transmission is not even a contest. Toyota 6-speed is terrible.

The 3.5 and 6 speed are not as good as the Ford, but you hear of zero issues with them, and Tacoma outsells the Ranger 5x I think. Factor in cost of ownership and the Toyota is a no brainer IMO.

I disagree. Not sure what outselling has anything to do with it other than the fanbase? Taco is a great vehicle no doubt. But certainly has its own issues - comfort and an outdated drive terrain being two of them. I think the cost of ownership over a 200K mile lifespan would be about the same though except the initial cost to purchase. Tacoma is pretty high considering what you get. Every side by side comparison I dug up shows the Ranger and Colorado as superior to the Tacoma except for a select few areas. again, not that its a bad truck, but its outdated. The one thing it does have that I like over the Ranger is the bedside height. I just got done test driving another Ranger yesterday, and every aspect of the drive was far better than the Tacoma - however, it depends on what a person is looking for too though.

If a Tacoma and a ranger cost the same new, which one is worth more at 200k? I put a question mark there- but it’s a rhetorical question, just like asking which one will have more spent on repairs. That’s not saying the Ranger would outperform the Tacoma- probably does in a lot of ways.
