For the past three years we've coordinated a week long Adv Moto/Camping trip to Moab and back. It's composed of a small group of Adventure Riders (Max of 6-8 Riders). It normally starts in Nederland, Colorado and then travels via two lane, dirt track, mountain pass, trails to Montrose, Co and then across the RimRocker trail to Moab and then back via forest rides and mountain passes thru Telluride, Ouray, Buena Vista, Camping each night along the trail. This year's tentative route will include a new portion of the RR and additional exploration west of Moab.
We're narrowing down the 2021 Rim Rocker Run dates for somewhere around the last week of July and/or the second week of August. Maximum of 5-7 days (note: these are tentative and for planning only, will post firm dates shortly).
This trip is open to any Adv./Dual Sport Bike capable of carrying you and all your camping gear for a week off-road. There is no cost to attend, space is limited and you must supply your own gear, supplies, moto, insurance, comms, meet at the designated meet-up spot (Nederland, Co) and fund your own way. We will not be on any interstate highways but, the bike needs to be able to run two lane posted speed limit for extended periods. While most of the trip will be two-track, off-road riding, mud, water crossing, maybe snow, high altitude passes, etc.....there won't be any highly technical portions (boulders, steps, shelfs, steep climbs, etc.....).
Please note, there is risk associated to riding in the back country. You should be skilled and comfortable with off-road riding, high altitude, exposed edges, sandy/muddy/slick conditions, trail repair, flat tire repair, roughing it, etc......
As the dates firm up and interest develops, I'll post-up a gear/supply list.
If you have any questions or interested, please let me know. Cheers.
