I am (regretfully) selling my 2023 Kimbo Camper. It has been an absolute joy to own and adventure in all over the country, and in all four seasons.
I have taken it a lot of epic places as a wandering bachelor, but I ended up meeting someone, getting engaged, and we are expecting our first child in April (woohoo!). All of that said--the Kimbo is just too small for our family adventures, and so I feel it's time to give it to someone else who will use it fully.
Here are the details on all the add-ons and features:
-Kimbo 6’ truck camper, aluminum insulated shell
-3 double pane, all season windows w/ privacy shades & bug screens
-Bamboo entryway w/ partition
-EcoFlow River Max Power Station w/ battery bay
-Warm white LED interior lighting w/ dimmer
-Full size 8inch high mattress w/ mildew resistant bed underlayment
-Bench seating
-Floor storage nook
-Fantastic Fan 3 speed reversible ceiling vent/skylight wired to battery
-Exterior storage bay
-External 120v power connection
-Solar outdoor perimeter lights
-4 Reico Titan side mount removable jack lifts
-Fire extinguisher
-Window style air conditioner, custom weatherproof, riveted storage bay, plus insulated exterior winter panel
-Kitchen / Sink Module: For use in food prep, hand washing, & as a bathroom sink: stainless steel marine sink mounted in birch plywood counter w/ hand pump faucet and 2.5 gallon multi-use water tank for refilling hot or cold water
-Dickinson Marine Direct Draft Propane Heater: For use during the winter as a constant off-grid heat source: exterior vented propane fireplace with dry air, weatherproof roof chimney, 12v interior air circulation fan, 12v wiring run, and custom roof transition.
-Propane Tank - 30 lbs., For use as a mid to long term off-grid solution to living while traveling untethered: high capacity 30 pound propane tank filled & fitted for winter heating, polyester tank retainment strap, insulated propane storage bay with water drain holes. Includes door and lockable latch to keep your gear out of sight and protected as needed
-Dometic Fridge and Solar Combo Dometic 47L 12V electric fridge with 4.4L of optional freezer space. Includes 2 Renogy 100 watt solar panels and EcoFlow RIVER PRO battery station with 1440 watts of battery power. Actually I replaced the fridge with a newer, more efficient dometic and put in a new harness to keep the fridge in place on rocky roads.
-Shower Module: For use as a compact hideaway solution to showering in small spaces: hideaway waterproof floor pan, gray water draining, ceiling mounted shower curtain, hand pressurized tank, propane heated water vessel for interior or exterior showering. Don't judge me but I never used the shower. I still have all the original components, some in original packaging.
-MaxxAir Fan **7500k**Roof vent with fan and thermostat moves air in and out of your Kimbo. Integrated rain shield prevents rainwater from entering. Remote control allows you to set the thermostat, fan speed and direction.
-Renogy Solar Power System (**TOTAL 3**)1 - 100watt efficiency 12V solar panels. Provides for use in maintaining your battery energy for off grid recreation. Offering an average of 400-500Wh or 3341Ah of electricity per day depending on sun. Roof mounted and waterproof. Includes mounted electric run, electrical connectors to battery transition, and sealed exterior to interior transition.
-Two-Way Hose Splitter for Propane Line **EXTERNAL & INTERNAL** Allows you to connect a second appliance, such as a camping stove, to the 30lb propane tank. Available for interior or exterior use, original mount I under the kitchen sink with extension hose options to be applied as owner use and needs require.
-Wooden Storage Unit with Table: For use as your clothes closet with shelves that won't fall out when you are driving: main clothing storage of finished interlocking birch plywood, mounted to center wall, features dining / desk surface
-Bedside Wire Storage 3 - 10" and 1 - 16" removable wire baskets made of strong steel wire with durable, rust resistant finish. Provides open view extra storage capacity. Mounted along bedside for additional clothing or miscellaneous storage
-Kitchen Wire Storage 1 - 16" removable wire basket made of strong steel wire with durable, rust resistant finish. Mounted above kitchen module providing easy view storage capacity for cooking supplies/misc. storage
-Pantry Wire Storage 3 - 16" removable wire baskets made of strong steel wire with durable rust resistant finish. Provides easy view storage capacity, mounted next to driver's side couch for food/miscellaneous items
-Wider Jack Bracket Upgrade Kit to accommodate larger truck bed, includes wider jack brackets and risers
-I will also include the hardware for keeping the Kimbo in your truck bed. They're composed of various hardware components and can be adjusted to your size truck, etc.--they are FAR superior to the ratchet straps that Kimbo sent to keep the camper in place. The Kimbo would slide around in my bed no matter how tight you'd ratchet them down. Eventually I built a wood frame to keep the Kimbo from sliding, and installed my custom hardware. Haven't had an issue since.
Those are the features on the invoice I paid to Kimbo. Here is some more noteworthy info.
THE GOOD
-Obviously this being a 2023, I didn't use it for very long. All the components are still in great shape, everything works as it should, and it's really just an awesome rig. Completely turn-key ready for any adventure, any time of year.
-My personally favorite components of the Kimbo are the mattress (surprisingly comfortable, I genuinely prefer sleeping in the Kimbo bed to about 95% of other mattresses in hotels, friend's houses, etc.), the propane fireplace (the ultimate cozy vibe when camping), the fridge/freezer/power system, the spaciousness--you can really have your off-grid remote workplace setup with all your outdoor adventure setup. Such a cool lifestyle you can have out of the kimbo. I also love the ample storage space and windows, and super-powered fan.
THE BAD
-The door lock has always been somewhat "sticky." Kimbo sent me a replacement deadbolt which I had professionally installed. It works, but will come undone while driving. So, I kept the door bungeed closed when I was driving which is a minor annoyance. Maybe you can fix it or have a professional fix it once and for all. The important thing for me is that I could/can lock the camper when I am in it, or away from it while in wilderness.
-The aluminum under the door frame has a slight crack. It doesn't impact any functionality but is there.
-Both brackets for the jacks on the right (starboard?) side are bent slightly.
THE OTHER
-I did remove the Kimbo vinyl, and added my own company's logo in vinyl. It is easy to remove.
-You'll notice I don't have indoor pictures. You can check out the Kimbo brochure and website to see the inside. I promise mine will be clean, functional, etc. when you come to see it. My excuse for not having pictures is that I am currently away from the Kimbo and in the process of moving about 5 hours away from Longmont (where it currently resides).
-The camper is currently on my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 with a 5.9L Cummins and is 4wd with about 279k miles. I also have a decked system installed in the truck, an aftermarket bluetooth&usb stereo, and replaced the back bench seat with a custom wooden storage module (but still have the original bench seat if you'd prefer that). If you want the entire adventure rig, truck included, we can talk about that too. I have put a LOT of money into mechanical upgrades and maintenance into the truck and have records for everything. It runs solid and will get you pretty much everywhere. If you want the entire adventure rig, I'd ask $42K for it.
Feel free to ask questions but please respect my time. If you're curious about Kimbos in general but not interested in mine specifically, just say so. I'd be happy to pass this on to the next adventurer who will really enjoy this thing. It truly is awesome and the best camp setup I've ever had.
I'll entertain offers, but any lowballs won't get responded to. Thanks!
This is located in Boulder, CO currently but....is very mobile! I have more pictures, and would love to show this in person.
