235/85/16 on stock 05 Tacoma?

Well, I have a buyer for the Rover and he thinks my 235/85 BFG AT's are too sissy for him They are less than 1K miles old.

?: Can I mount them on a bone stock 05 Tacoma without tearing anything apart? They measure 31.7" according to BFG.

Soon I will get an OME lift for about 1.5 - 2" or so of lift.

They are currently on 8" rims and I have even aired down a little with no ill effects. 7" rims would be used at the same time as the lift, just to be extra safe.

What say you folks? I gotta make the swap this AM if I am going to do it...

They should work without any issues. I mounted 265/75 R16 on my taco with no rubbing. Here are all of the tire dimensions

Stock Tire
265/70 R16
Diameter = 30.6”
Section Width = 10.4”
Section Height = 7.3”

Tire I mounted without a lift
265/75 R16
Diameter = 31.6”
Section Width = 10.4”
Section Height = 7.8”

Tire you would like to mount
235/85 R16
Diameter = 31.7”
Section Width = 9.3”
Section Height = 7.9”

As you can see, it should work without any problems.

...with stock wheels, no problem.

If you use any thing other than the stock offset, there will be substantial rubbing. The slightly narrower 235 would help some, but I still had to do some plastic trimming with a 2" lift and 265/75-16 mounted on 16x8 MB Rocker rims.
