3500lb axle

In process of gathering parts for an off road/expo/camping trailer. Nothing to fancy but want a good rugged set up for off road behind my Jeep.

Looking at axles I am finding pricing all over the board.

All are rated for 3500 lbs. 60" wide

Are 2 3/8 diameter with a 5 on 5.5 hub. Be running 37`s to match the Jeep.

At this point spindles with flanges for brakes are in the plan but no brakes at this point. Perhaps an update for down the road.

Internet sales are coming in at around 110-125.00 plus UPS shipping

Local trailer manufactures are 250-350 for the same thing. Then add sales tax.

Can anyone explain the huge price differences ? Pretty sure they are all using a solid spindle (non grease port) Any one of the companies will make the axle 59/61" or whatever width I want.

Thoughts, comments, please.

Thanks !!

Are you asking about the huge differences between the internet axles and the locally manufactured?

If so it's all about buying in bulk, and being set up to manufacture axles.

Your local manufacturer will set up for each axle build, buy parts in small quantities, and break down after building it.

The internet manufacturer is set up to manufacture axles all the time, there is no break down, and they buy in bulk. They are probably building the axle, paying for labor, and overheads for less than your local manufacturer is buying the steel for.

But if you want the local guy to stay in business to fix any problems you have down the road, or fabricate something custom for you, buy local.
