3rd battery

I want to add a 3rd battery to my diesel truck for camping. I have 2 starter batteries, will the 110 amp alternator be able to keep up. Should I come off the alternator or the battery to charge the 3rd battery and install an isolator. Thanks for any and have a nice day.

This Space For Rent
Boomer has two starting batteries, and then two house batteries for a total system capacity (starter + house) of over 500AH. I use a solenoid to isolate the house bank from the starter bank. Delcity makes a "smart" solenoid that disconnects one bank when it senses the other bank has dropped voltage below 12.8 or something. This looks like a pretty clever solution for isolating without the additional wiring associated with a solenoid switched off the ignition / starter circuit. I am running a stock 100A Ford alternator. I would love to have 200+ A of charging capability, but it isn't in the cards for the time being. The stock alternator hasn't complained too bad from the additional load, but I'm not typically running any of the banks down very far between charging, and Boomer sits on a 110V charger when its parked in the driveway.
