3rd gen 4runner lift and tire combo (pics request)

Hi everybody! I have a 1997 4runner that Im slowly turning into an expo rig. First thing, I want skinny 32s tires. The possibility are not infinite. I looked at 265/75/16 bfg AT, but they are not as skinny as I would want. I looked at 235/55, they look good when they are MT but, not as good in AT... and I dont want MT since it is my daily driver and Im doing a lot of highway...

Do you have some picture of 3rd gen 4 runner with skinny 32s and 2-3 inches lift?

ok so as far as the lift goes, 3" is pretty much gonna be your limit unless you start doing things like drop bracket kits out of tacomas, or long travel kits ect, and that gets spendy fast, as you have to get all new axles and yeah. as far as tires go, AT tires are gonna be hard to find in either 235 85 16 or a 255 85 16, they do make them but options are gonna be limited. that second size (255 85 16) is one i didnt see you mention, but its the stock size tire that comes on the newer jeep rubicons.

lifting one is relatively cheap, i think im into my lift under $500 and most of that was the cost of the shocks/struts.

ok so i did a little foot work for you, with google, and yeah you are gonna want to go with the 255 85 if you ask me... the 235s are to small for a lift.
the first 3 are of the 235 85 16 tires, with a 3" lift. way to small if you ask me



these are the sizes 265 70 16, 255 86 16, and 285 70 16

the rest are all 255 85s



this will be the closest to an AT tire in that size that i could find, its a cooper st maxx


this last one is a small lift, probably 1-1.5",

My 4runner with about 2" of OME suspension. 255/85r16 BFG muds, no contact with fenders or frame.



Edit: I say no contact but I forgot I had to clearance for the 285s I ran previously. I think they would still clear ok.

3" Toytec front, OME 3" rear, and 285/75/16. I have no rubbing and no spacers. Running 285/75/16's in the front are known to rub if you don't get the right backspacing.

285/75/16s with spacer.They will rub at full lock without em, and are scary close to rubbing ALL the time without em. Sonoran Steel 1.2a. lift. Great ride but pricey. Sometimes I think if I had to do over I would go with OME & 265/75s, although I dont think it would ride nearly as well. And I really like the look. So, really I am very happy with everything, other than the front tires slinging stuff all down the sides from sticking out.

Your 4runner look very good! That is the look im looking after. Clean and simple.

I like the 255/85 a lot, but the limited choice of tire is bugging me...
Im really considering the 265/75 right now. Some of you guys are running that size?

my 98 limited is running the OME 890/906 2.5" lift with 265/75r16 with no rubbing but from what I've read, I could have run 265/75 in stock form and not rubbed. I also have 2005 taco rims, anything smaller won't look right with the lift.
