4500 km in the Himalaya

British offroad motorcycle racer Adam Riemann, technical editor for Australasian Dirt Bike Magazine, rode a 4500 km loop in the Himalaya mountains in 2012. With GoPro camera attached to his helmet, Riemann captured some amazing adventures.

This 7 minute video shows Riemann and his father riding 150cc dual sport bikes across the Rohtang Pass between Leh and Manali in northwest India, and on to the city of Kishtwar.

The city of Kishtwar is in India, about 125 miles east of Islamabad, Pakistan.

Here's a shorter video that shows Riemann riding a tremendously exposed trail, carved into the mountainside, 1500 feet above the river below.

My big question when watching all these trips and reading about them is how you all move so well between countries. Being a US citizen and not venturing out of the country much, I am always under the impression it's so difficult to get between countries and worry i would be held up at a checkpoint and never make it out!

Believe me, performing the death defying feats of these riders is more difficult than border crossings!
As long as your paperwork is lined up (including things like carnets and visas) and you have no contraband, it is usually not a problem.

Amazing videos! No kidding about the dangerous ride! I think I would just be concerned with walking that trail, let alone riding a bike. Wow!
