4btAA trans adapter

Looking on Ebay at a trans adapter to connect the little Cummins to a GM transmission. I recognize the hole where the starter goes, but on the other side of the crankshaft hole is a smaller port. Does anybody know what goes in that one.

Search in the classifieds section of www.4btswaps.com there are always a few setups for sale. The starter from either the GM or Ford will work and are interchangeable. It is not a desirable starter. I sold my last one for $50 (good used condition).

That is a hole for a barring tool (spelling). You can use it to turn the motor over for valve adjustments, etc. 4Bt swaps is a great resource if you can wade through the plethora of info to find what you need.

Yes its for a Mitsubishi

Yeah, right now everything is in the planning stage till I graduate from Nursing school this spring. But the plan is a 4bt into the 95 Montero SR. I don't know of anyone who has done this yet and I know its gonna be a tight (and expensive) fit. Let me know if you know anyone who has attempted it.

Thanx Charlie V

Thanx a lot. I have spent a lot of time on the 4bt forum and generally found them to be somewhat helpful. I made more progress just bugging the Frito Lay guy.

I put a 4BTAA in my Scrambler this summer/fall. I'm very happy thus far. It's a little loud, but I'm a "diesel guy" so I think it's a fair compromise. I used the 4bt swaps forum some, but found the best resource there was Scott at Tennessee Diesel Conversions. I bought about $800 in parts from him which made me feel less guilty about calling him and asking for advice. Your best bet is to make friends with a Cummins mechanic. I had four on speed dial during the conversion. Good luck with your conversion, PM me if you need any help.

Good comments guys.. I own the 4BTswaps.com site so if anyone ever has comments about how we can make it better let me know. Now with the release of vB 4.0 we are going to start creating faqs etc to sort of refine things a little as there is a lot of info and I am also redoing my old http://cruisers.shoumatoffmedia.com site into the 4BT site as a guide on general conversions.. When I started getting into it with the 4BT it is such a brilliantly simple engine that it was way easier to install than even a carb'd Chevy V8...
