4x4 camper build

Hi
Here are some pics of my Nissan Navara build. It was originally one of 47 Navaras built for a UK power company. I added the snorkel and lights and then set about converting the back. I took the roller shutter doors out of the sides and moulded new fibreglass panels to fill in the holes. I made a rear door and frame out of fibreglass. I managed to find a Reimo elevating roof so cut a hole in the existing roof and with a bit of fettling managed to get the Reimo elevating roof to fit. I had the windows made. The truck is insulated with rigid Kingspan insulation and then clad in ply. Inside I have a bench seat that folds out to make a double bed. Cooking is via a diesel ceramic hob. We have a 12v fridge, sink and porta potti. Power is via 4 x 110 Ah batteries and a 1500w inverter. Hope you like it

Tell us more about the mechanism on top!

Hi
The elevating (pop up) roof is a stock item made by a German company called Reimo for a VW T5 van. It came with the scissor hinges and two gas struts. Really easy to push up and take down via two handles on the inside of the roof. On 3 sides of the fabric sides there are panels which can be unzipped and reveal mosquito nets behind so lots of fresh air but none of the nasty bitey things.
