The day I bought the 1976 toyota chinook. The overall condition of it wasnt to bad. Paint was dry and interior needed to be redone.

I originally bought the chinook because I thought it looked cool and would be funny to have as a daily driver. Over a weekend I was able to redo most of the interior. Took it out the some hot springs for the first time owning it.

The engine bay was really rusty so removed the back half and pulled the engine. I repainted the engine bay with the toyota cement grey color. I was originally going to paint the whole chinook that color but later changed my mind.

I've always had a desire to get an old chinook and drop in a 22RE and 5 speed with a/c, make a very nice runner out of it, maybe a small lift kit to help get to some of the places I like to camp, looks like you are on the right track with yours, should be a lot of fun, enjoy it.
