Hello,
Ive been in contact with the owner of the Quadravan, he seems like a nice guy who knows what he has and wants it to go to a good home. Bellow is an email he sent me with some more info:
"the van is a quadravan conversion by pathfinder.. basically you ordered a 4x4 van from the ford dealer, they sent it to pathfinder, then back to the dealer who delivered it to you . all regular truck parts used. Search online and you will find quite abit of stuff. I know almost nothing about this particular van...
I looked for over a year and ended up finding one in my town ( Maple Valley). I drove it a couple weeks, tried to sell my truck, didn't sell the truck, so the van just sat. My intentions were to build a 4x4 beach/dirtbike camper.
There's a big following of these vans, people drive them around the baja and stuff like that.
So, in the 2 1/2 years I've owned it, it has basically sat. I started it every 4-6 weeks and drive it on a 10 mile loop in my area 3 or 4 times a year. It last ran in October, last driven in July, So I started it today ( started on the first crank over) and drove it. Everything works fine. It has been parked in a covered area out of the weather.
The gas tanks have been full the entire time.... I checked the brakes when I bought it ( fine)and changed oil.... that's about it . I haven't put 100 miles on it since I've owned it.
The guy I bought it from ( I still have his number, he said call anytime) had the engine rebuilt and used it for a work van. He moved to Tuscon Arizona, didn't like the heat, and moved back. That is the majority of the miles on the new engine I believe. He said about 5000 miles since build. on the way back he blew a tire, and couldn't find a replacement that matched, so he put 2 tires on the front which are a different size than the rear...obviously not good for a 4 wheel drive. He said he didn't put in 4 wheel drive since. he said it all works fine. I took it out in the snow once just for fun, put it in 4 high, locked the hubs and it definitely worked... I did that for about 100 yards, thats all I can tell you about the 4 wheel drive.
The body is in great shape for a 30 year old rig. a little rust, but not much. looks to have been repainted. some bondo. Not bent, panels all good, not rusting out.
The dash is great, everything works, the 2 captains chairs aren't that great.
Only a couple issues... speedo drive gear (about $20) is out,so no speedo or odo, ignition turns without key, but door locks work. actually thats about it.
Everytime I drive it I really would like to keep it and build, but life has changed. They are hard to find, and usually very expensive. For the kind of shape its in, I'm a few thou under priced and taking it in the shorts, but I need the space.
The guy I got it from was using it as an everyday work truck. cargo area is carpeted and in good shape.
I planned to use it as a work truck and slowly build it, but things changed.
Could you drive it across the country? I would go thru it closely , but the guy drove it to Tuscon and back the way it is.
If I was going to keep it, the first thing I would do is put a set of tires on it. Thats about all it really needs.
Don't know much about the gearing, but it seems geared low for an auto.... on the freeway it was fine, but certainly doesn't have an overdrive transmission....
That's about all I can think of... Has a full size spare ( the size of the rears) so you could look for a used tire to match and be into 4 wheel drive right away.
let me know if you are interested,
If you have questions let me know, I'll do my best to answer them."
