Hi All!

Im glad to join this forum! lots of great info.

I recently bought and am trying to modify a 95 mitsu montero. here is a mystery problem for you:

every once in a while ill be driving and all my red warning lights: brake, A/T, Battery, SRS, door (maybe others), flash for an instant. no lights stay on. car runs normally.

as far as I can tell, the lights all work normally besides this. I havent done anything yet because I have no idea whats up, but I tried searching and havent found anything similar. was wondering if any of you had an idea where to start looking.

Thanks for all your help!

You might check the battery cables and the ground straps between the; battery and the chassis, engine and the chassis. Does your 95 have the gauge cluster on the top of the dash?

Thanks! Will do. Do you mean the main gushes? I suppose you could say that. If you mean the pod with the compass and such yes also. I didn't see any ground point problems. I will multimeter tomorrow

"Do you mean the main gushes?" <----- i don't know what you are asking here?

Even though you state the red warning lights flash for an instant, I was curious if the voltage gauge on the top of the dash showed anything? That's why I asked about the gauge cluster on the top of the dash.

Just wanted to update. Gushes=guages, sorry missed that one. The voltmeter was stable as far as I could tell.

It ended up being my alternator, or more specifically the volt regulator on the alternator. I know because it straight gave up the ghost on me on a road trip and started overcharging (like 18-19v). I replaced the alternator as soon as I could, and have not had the issue since.

Funny enough a friend of mine also bought a Montero and had the same problem. We did the same fix and it worked, so must be common.

I haven't seen any long term problems from the overcharge luckily.
