Update:

got the belt on, seems to fit pretty good

still have to do gussets (slight vibration due to lack of support)

fab a plate for inlet and exhaust ports

nope, just plain old tacoma compressor, i plan on using a tool oiler upstream and a deoiler (something that separates fluid from air) to keep it happy.

Have you spoke with anyone else running this setup?

Freon lubricates the internal parts, without it, it will seize up VERY quickly.

Some folks use Yorks because i they have an internal oiling system. I have seen others use Sandens as well and i am not 100% but i think they have an oiling system too. I dont think the Taco ones have this.

I learned this the hard way.

Check into it a bit more before you fire it up! :)

hmm.. so an oil mister wont work?

i haven't spoke with anyone about this type of setup, just some articles that i have read.

i guess ill see if i can find a york or something (only 25$ into the whole project :D)

It is pretty frequent that Early Bronco guys transplant a Rustang 5.0 SEFI and use it's non-York A/C compressor for OBA. Freon does not lube the compressor, there is oil in the system too. (It is the oil that causes the problem in R-134 conversions)

Anecdotally I know of one Sanden that has never been oiled and has been in use as a OBA compressor for going on 3 years. I know of a couple others who've put an in-line oiler in, and found that their oil consumption is very low.

I'd use an in-line oiler on the intake and a dryer on the discharge. I've seen where people have rigged the dryer to drain back into the oiler, but that looks like it's not as simple a mod as it might seem.

No No No!

Dont quote me on this and abort project. Just look into it. It MIGHT work, just wanna give you a heads up.

Just be careful, seen many compressor seize. I have always used Yorks, other folks have used Sandens with good luck as well.

Any idea what compressor it is? Some of the Mustangs had Yorks in them. Mine is from a mustang actually (67 i think)

im already having problems with the alternator pulley slipping, the belt isn't routed quite right, so i need to devise a new bracket..
i figured id get a new york off of eBay for around 150 and skip all the extra oilers and such. :)

Early Rustangs could have come with a York. The 5.0 SEFI's (~'96+) use something like a Sanden.
