A few years ago, I took my daughter, Lilly, on her first daddy-daughter trip. She was at the age of 3. I knew she could "survive" without mom for a few days. Fast forward...it has become a tradition. We have always chosen the daylight savings weekend.
This past summer, we spent a week together in the high country of Colorado before mom came to the rescue
But, this past weekend was a time for us to play, say goodbye to the prime desert season, and welcome the season of winter to the high country of Utah--where we live.
With "the weekend" approaching it was time to watch the weather and see if we could make it happen. Timing is everything and appeared ours was perfect. The forecast called for pleasant temperatures in the desert while a storm was moving into the north and hitting Park City. Snow in the mountains? Check. Sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s in canyon country? Check.
We rallied south...our time was grand...our timing was perfect. It was meant to be. Yes, we text and talked with mom briefly. But, I think that was more for mom's sake. For Lilly and I, it was our chance to play in the sand, feel the sun on our faces, and enjoy each other's company.

Lilly got to drawing while I was trying to wake up! Coffee!

We jumped in the cruiser and were off. No one was out...Really, no one...Offseason in the desert had begun.

Rock art a few thousand years old.

It's our little deal...Dirt roads and no mom...Front seat! Lilly was happy!

The fall colors were still out. Barely...But, outstanding! We ran, we played, we hiked, and we enjoyed each other's company.

So much energy was exerted...We had to have a drink break. Sippee cup for her...A can of oil for me

The river...She wanted to swim. I brought the towel. Knowing it would be too cold... She put her feet in and said, "No way!"

So much country...I took 30 pictures of this tree. I need to go back! I wanted a raven to land...but, I could only hear them in the distance.

Time to head back to camp.
More to come...
