A different kind of trailer

Hi everyone!

I've been lurking (and learning) for awhile and would like to share what I picked up today.

Not exactly sure what I am going to do with it yet - but I have plans for at minimum a RTT. Might put an ATV or PWC on the bottom, RTT on top, gas cans and disapear for a weekend. We will see how this plays out.

Some rust (its a California trailer - things don't rust here! :p ), couple of the welds need to be cleaned up, lights fixed, etc.

After that is done, it will be sand blasted and powder coated this winter. Then an axle swap and spring over. Hopefully be able to Fit full-sized wheels on a Toyota pattern when I'm done.

Pretty cool trailer. If that was mine I would be tempted to raise it some and skin it out to make an enclosed trailer. What is your tow vehicle?

Welcome to the Portal.

The trailer has lots of potential. I'd use it as much as you can before deciding how you want to modify it.

The guys at Kro-Built on 4th Street will be able to help you out with parts. They make their own square tube axles there.

Awsome trailer!!! Did the owner before you had it custom-built or do you know who the manufacturer is?

Title makes mention of "Tailgater" as manufacturer.

I am lead to believe that the upper was added on due to the title listing the unladen weight as 225lb. Its quite a bit heavier than that now. I havent had the chance to take it to a scale yet, but I would estimate the weight being in the 700-800lb range as is.

Got the lights fixed today. No pics, that would be pretty boring.

Talked to the previous owner again - he used it to haul personal water craft (wave runners, jet skiis, etc.), dirt bikes, ATV's, things like that. So its always been a 'toy hauler'. Pretty much what I have in mind for it - except for some upgrades.

Working on getting blasting/coating quotes now. Not sure if I should do that at the beginning or the end of the build - just getting an idea of what it will cost.

The trailers first job will come at the end of this month. We are (finally) saying goodbye to apartment living and moving to a real house with a GARAGE!! :sombrero:
