Lucky you didn't lose a thumb or finger! Those dude are nasty and their bite is incredibly strong! I used to tease them with sticks, etc. They can bite a broom handle into pieces. Ask me how I know....

Dude, your lucky, and by the way what an awesome picture from a phone..
Me and my buddy were out one time and we found one of these, he took a old work glove (thick leather) and was waving it front of its face and it bit the entire finger off and spit it out.. and we were like wow.. glad your hand wasnt in that!
