just read your entire build thread. pretty baffled that a college kid, who's house is 30 degrees, can afford all this stuff for his truck. did you win the lottery?

Hahaha.
Long story short:
-Went to community college first 2 years
-Worked my butt off doing graphic work for a local magazine company.
-At the time drove a 04 acura rsx and had built a 98 Honda Integra Type R clone.
-Integra got stolen & stripped, got a huge sum of money from insurance.
-Sold my rsx, sold my built honda ruckus, used insurance money, used money saved up from working all throughout high school.
-Also do freelance photography on the side to pay for most of my mods.
-Started my own local forum (Mo4wd.com), became good friends with local off road shops, started doing advertisement for them, got huge discounts on parts :wings:.

Awesome build, I signed up for T4R.org just to be able to read the entire thing. And kudos to you on working smart/hard to be able to pay for the upgrades.

How do you like the Nitto Trail Grapplers in 295/70/17 size? I'm running 285/70/17 BFG KM2's on my FJC and want to go just a bit taller and wider. The Nitto's are in the running but don't know anyone who runs them. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Sweet 4Runner!

damn good looking 4runner

Nice work on the 4runner, and even better effort working and saving.

Thanks! I really appreciate it! Its been a long couple years, but well worth it!

Thanks! I've only had them for about 2k miles so far. Haven't used them off road yet, but on road they're pretty good. I was running 285/70/17 GY Duratracs before, but had 2 wheels unseat while going up a double ledge. Wasn't sure if it was a mounting issue on these 17x9s, but I had talked to a few other owners of the same wheel and they said I needed to go bigger. Only problem was I had to do the body mount chop, but now everythings good to go. I thought these MTs would be super loud too, not that loud at all.

I will admit, when I saw your thread on .org I immediately assumed your parents were paying for everything. Now, as a fellow college student, I feel like a lazy bum.

kudos to you. glad to see other hardworking people able to do what they want. i have to say, your picture in the parking lot, with all your lights on, looks absolutely amazing. kinda surprised you haven't thrown a snorkel on there yet, key word being yet? take care, and congrats on a very clean and well built 4Runner.

Only reason he hasn't had a snorkel put on yet is cause it hasn't been out long enough. Snorkel was released maybe a month or so ago from a company in China?? The cost of it and shipping to the US is ~600 iirc. I'm sure it's on his list though, I know it's on mine (one day).

+1 for Snorkel. Yea Factoryride is correct, I wouldn't mind being the guinea pig for that Chinese made snorkel but not for $600. Still waiting for safari to make one.

I feel the same way about the snorkel as well. Maybe if they offered a group buy on the forum and we had a freight shipment sent to one location (maybe Ducs shop?) and that could make help sort out some costs. I'm not holding my breath for safari though. Their emails back weren't promising at all.

Thought I'd do a little update while being bored at home.

I'm planning a little overland trip this year, going to Moab for about a week and then hitting up FJ summit in Ouray. Heres a couple things I've added since my last update.

I was looking for some seat covers that used a Molle system, the only ones I found were the Smittybilt Jeep covers. So I came across these, made by Blue Ridge Overland Gear. I made a separate thread in the storage section, but here they are. The thing I like about them is how quickly they can be taken apart & that you can swap them from vehicle to vehicle. Plus I can configure whatever pouches I want on the Molle System.

Also took advantage of the Sierra Expedition Black Friday sale. Got a set of ARB outback drawers. The sub is just temporary til I can swap out my factory speakers for something better.
