ADV riding

At the Mountain Rendezvous in California last weekend, I rode with two other guys around the mountains and desert. While I've ridden around there, I'm no expert, but I went in front. I promptly got us "lost" and when I pulled over, the first thing out of my mouth was "I'm sorry, I thought this was the way!"

To which I received the reply, "It's not adventure riding if you don't have a little adventure."

It was neat that the mindset is so totally different, and we ended up exploring any trail we felt like, dead ends and all without remorse. Dead end? Turn around (or drag it around) and down the next trail! :bike_rider:

I love days like that (rare on the east coast) - funny thing: two months ago, I took my 22 year old daughter camping in the Adirondacks, she was so frustrated as I kept turning down roads to see where they went.... she didn't enjoy it at all!

Yeah, that happens most anytime I'm leading. Sort of funny, if I'm riding solo, I tend to stick with places I know or have tracks to. I usually am moving at a decent pace, and sometimes seeing things I have several times before. If I'm leading, I tend to loop around things not quite sure where I'm at, end up on dead ends, etc. It's sort of embarrassing, but the guys I ride with have no problem with it.
