Advice on 4runner purchase

Newbie here, I'm considering buying an 03 4runner sport edition 4wd v8. The vehicle has around 200k miles on it and has a range of aftermarket upgrades, including Bilstein 5100s, OME front and rear coils, Cooper Discoverer tires, Icon uniball upper control arms, and a custom roof rack. The owner is asking $10k. They claim the vehicle has been well maintained, and from what I've gathered from various forums the consensus seems to be that well maintained 4runners can run far past 200k. However, the asking price still seems a bit on the high side to me. Any thoughts on this vehicle, especially from those with high mileage 4th gens, would be much appreciated, as well as any other relevant advice.

Book on it is $5500 at best, then again it's in California so the market is stupid on older Toyota's. I don't give more than 25% of cost on aftermarket upgrades and that's only as a courtesy as a fellow enthusiast who appreciates them and prefers them but that's only if they are upgrades I care for. He has a few decent items on it but im by no means impressed beyond an extra $500-1000 at most. I seriously can't see giving more than $5-6K for that truck considering it's age, mileage, condition and that's being nice. But like I said earlier, you're in a different market and the V8 brings a premium in a lot of peoples eyes.

FWIW in my area ~8-12k will get you a nice v8 runner with ~100k on it. I prefer to buy a clean stock rig and build it up myself. No sense in paying a premium for parts you may need to rebuild or replace anyway. It would be easy to dump a few thousand if it needs cv boots, ball ball joints, wheel bearings timing belt and wp etc.

If it's truly been well maintained and you can knock off a couple thousand you'd be in better shape.

For that price, get a GX470. Way more comfortable, same engine, and plenty to be had for less money with fewer miles. As for the 4Runner in question, I wouldn't pay more than $6k for it.

Seems high. $6-7k
