So my rig came to me with Iron Cross bumpers front and rear. They aren't anything special, but still way better than stock. (If you go this route realize that sooner or later you will have to blast them and spray with Line-X. Rust is a serious issue with the cheap paint job.)
I can't bring myself to toss the rear bumper and spend $2,500 on an Aluminess with swing-outs, but I am running 33s and no full size spare, and in constant need of a little more storage. I emailed Aluminess to ask how I could determine the compatability of their stand alone swing outs ($650 each) with non-stock bumpers. Their only response was to recommend buying their whole setup. Figures...
Does anyone have any experience with the Aluminess spare tire carrier and a non-stock bumper? Can anyone help me figure out how tight the tolerances are so that the rear doors can still open?
And yes, I do realize I could potentially modify the Aluminess products and through-bolt into the bumper or go to a fab shop (Theoretically anyway, there aren't any real offroad fab shops in NY). Aluminess had no interest in selling me swing-outs without the mounting brackets, and I'm hoping to avoid major surgery on a brand new product.
Thanks!
