Aluminum pickup loading ramps as sand ladders?

Was just in Costco and saw these aluminum folding loading ramps for $99. Two pieces, each one folding in the middle, about 12"X90". Rated for 600 pounds each, but that was for a load centered near the hinge point. I bet if you just didn't assemble the pieces together, you would have four 12"X48" sand ladders, that might bend a bit when used, two of them are pre-arched and the other two are flat. 30 pounds for all 4 sections. These photos from their web site are not exactly what was in the store, but close. I don't currently have a set, and with a winch and PullPal, might never need 'em, but ya never know. Certainly not a bridging ladder, but for adding on an option at very light weight, are they totally laughable?

Ramps for bridging ladders......

Hello all, I know this is about an old post but this has been my experience with using loading ramps for bridging ladders, one folding ramp with the folding mechanism removed gave me two ladders about 41" long and 12" wide or so, the construction is similar to the ones in the original posts photo. $89 for one if I remember, what the heck I got one..... and when taken apart:victory::), they work! I got the ramp at a "Tractor Supply" store. My first truck that I used them with was a 02 GMC Sonoma CC 4x4 and I have since used them once with my present truck a 09 4dr 4x4 Ford Ranger sport 4x4 to cross a deep narrow ditch that could have been a potential problem swallowing the front end of my truck,( loaded with my gear for 5 days/4 nights camping gear and my kayak also all the usual recovery gear, Hi-Lift, straps, yada, yada. they worked like a charm! stay safe, mjmcdowell :D
