Aluminum tear drop

Hey guys, new here but starting on my second build... built the first one for a guy that was on a budget and wanted a moby1 styled trailer... now on to my own trailer...

Main frame is 3x2 1/8th wall steel, camper section is out of 1x1 aluminum square tubing 1/8th wall as well...

Outter skin is 3/16th aluminum, then it will be the 1x1 aluminum tubing and then spray foamed then interior panels

The previous build I didnt finish the rear cabinets, he wanted to do it. but I am currently getting some quotes done to see what it will cost me.

currently waiting to get my skins back from the laser cutter then I will be starting on the cabin section.. wish me luck

Flip, 1/8 and 3/16 is very heavy duty material for this application, I'm curios how and why you selected the tube and sheet thickness? For weight and cost it seems you could go much thinner and get great results. I built a 25' offshore welded aluminum boat with 3/16 skin and it was plenty strong for that. Rick

Similar in style to a build I'm starting - but I'll be doing a plywood sandwich construction instead of metal. Your deck height is bound to be pretty high with the 4" lift and off-road tires. With 31" and no lift I'll be around 23.5" or so with the standard height Timbren (3x2 frame and 1" deck).

I'd love to see your pics of the first Moby clone you did.

With 3/16 skin and roof you could weld a beauty of a joint at the corners and save you from exhaustive application or sealant. No sealant joints to maintain and a cool look for sure.

Hey sorry been busy, went with 3/16 material cause I need a rigid side wall, 1/8th is just not enough. Also I will be able to screw and tap pretty much any where on the body with out problems. Java I will ask the owner for pics, I just designed and built it for him... but he paid me to do it, so have to ask him..all the next builds are are under my dollar so I will be posting lots of pix soon. is a sketch of what my lower cabinets will look like, reason for the small pull out drawer is to rest the stove on... I will be storing the stove on top of the sink while traveling, under the stove I will have a storage drawer.
