3 days left.
The good: 14' by 8' by 6' tall box, passthrough door, 7.3 engine, 91k miles, great tires, A/C worked when parked, no tears in seats, inverter, air ride
The bad: batteries dead, fender damage, have to buy site unseen, side window, and 11 hour drive home. Only 15k GVWR
What do you guys think of this? Seems like the holy grail of used ambulances (besides a c5500 4x4 passthrough), but I am sure the price will end up reflecting it. How much do you think this is worth? If anyone is planning on bidding I would be interested to know, so we don't bid up each other. (If I convince my wife.) What questions should I ask?

I wanna say a few months ago. A similar rig sold for 11-12K? Ambulance F350 or 450 4wd etc from govdeals. Then the buyer tried to flip it on this site when everyone knew what he paid. It didnt have fender damage.

These things have a tendency to spike like crazy in price in the final minutes. There was a e350 quigley 4x4 in west virginia that was posted here that ended up selling for like $13k to a member on here (they definitely kept it, didn't try to flip it). Pretty crazy that this is already at $16k, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it go up another $4-$6k in the final minutes. Evere since covid started you can see how many people are trolling the gov auctions for #vanlife vehicles - half the questions are about how tall the boxes are (everybody wants >6' standing height).

Definitely a super solid base, just don't make the mistake of thinking that it will go for a decent price. I've been disappointed multiple times to watch them go way out of my price range with 1 minute left (and these auctions get extended as bids are made).

Yea, I figured it would go into the $20k range. A 2010 F-450 4x4 with a blown engine went for over $6k. I got to walk around that one, but it had the less reliable 6.4 diesel.

I just don't get you guys. If you don't want the price to spike up, maybe don't post these on a forum full of people looking for rigs like this. Just FYI, I am the high bidder right now, and I am already in for more than I want to be. But I want the project.

It takes a lot of time and patience to continually sort through these gov auction sites waiting for the right rig to pop up. The results of that labor should go to the person doing the work- why share the good listings for all the guys who aren't putting in the work?

By the way a similar rig just sold in Washington state for over $23k. It had the 6.0 but only 62k miles, and was one of the cleanest rigs I have seen from the gov sites. Prices are going crazy...

Honestly, the expo guys should get together and bid in groups. Instead of bidding eachother up, we all decide a set top price, designate one 'winner' and do this until everyone is happy in their rigs. We all get good deals, no price fluffing.

I was also the guy who won the 4x4 quigley in West Virginia that NYyankee mentioned above. I was bidding agaisnt a couple guys from this forum- we should do things smarter.

I was debating posting it here for those reasons, but I also thought I would find a high bidder, or some good advice. I was just going to bid it up a little more. Now I won’t. Let’s make a pact to work together. jlcanterbury I’ll PM you so we can discuss privately. (At least I’ll try). Anyone else want in on this PM one of us. Maybe a more senior member can help organize some general guidelines/rules/code of ethics whatever you want to call it.

We all have a passion for rigs and the outdoors...lets help each other out with buying. And if you see one, on any site etc PM someone you may know that is looking for a similar rig. Good buys are out there. ?
