Ambulance E450 van vs F350 truck 4x4

Both Ambulances one is Van based 4x4 and the other a truck based 4x4

I understand the draw for converting an ambulance to Camper.
If buying a 4x4 Ambulance for conversion isn't a Truck based Ambulance a better option.
I understand that more Econoline ambulances exist and assume that is the main reason why they are chosen

Biggest draw on the E-series isn't availability, it's wheel base and foot print. It's shorter in both.

Although every time I have to go under the hood I wish it was a truck. But 21' is the longest I'd want to be.

Yup, maneuverability and parkability is the main motivation for the Type III Ambulances, If neither of those is an issue, I'd opt for a Type I everytime (And Did). But if I was doing far off grid camping and wheeling in my camper, I'd go for a Type III.

Are you saying that you believe that the F350 Ambulance would be smaller?

I believe that an F350 Cutaway was the more expensive option from Ford. They are intercooled and have more power. Of course, a 4x4 van has to go to an upfitter, but I believe that they E350 cutway is the cheaper platform.

The options inside of an ambulance are nearly endless, I don't think the boxes would be any different unless they are ordered a specific way.

The military ambulances I see on the bases in my area all seem to be truck-based and the military could care less about initial cost.

Let me know if I am offbase

Truck is 23'+ for the same box and a longer wheelbase. Econoline is 20'+ the rear bumper and usually 138" wheelbase.

It's highly maneuverable... the F350 4x4 pickup I drove was a beast to drive (although crew cab).

Longer wheelbase + 4X4 = 7 pt turns instead of 2-3 point.

If you're in the desert then it likely doesn't matter. On this rock where I live <90" wheelbase is where it's at... 138" is useless off road.

I have not seen pictures or video of ambulances rock crawling. I really have not seen any of the nicely done U-joint style ambulances offroad beyond something that looks like a dirt driveway.

My searches may be coming up short but I have been looking
