An incredible day.......except for the fact..........

Same Trip....Different Day.........

I did this same trip yesterday to celebrate my birthday week!

Made it to the top of the old mine site and was greeted with 100 mile views! I had views clear to San Jacinto Mtn. . Glamis to Gordons Well and all of the sand dunes. The border down along the desert floor and into Mexico. The Salton Sea and all of Anza Borrego Park. Wow!.....what a day!

Got up there about noon. They called for 107* in the desert. It was about 100* in the mtns. Nice breeze made it just right.

By about 2pm I was buzzed twice by a huge green Govt. unmarked helicopter that was flying straight down the cattle fence!.....oops....I mean border fence. On the second pass he came really low and close.

I started leaving the area just after sunset and finally for the first time I saw a Border Patrol truck up in these border mtns. parked at the crossroads. Finally!

I told my friend that I bet he will radio down to his buddies below and they will block our exit and talk and search.

At the bottom of the trail exit, there they were. Two BP trucks. Two BP Agents with M16's. Very nice guys and they did their job perfect. I was proud to see it in action! I thanked them and told them we all care about them and this very difficult job they are doing.

One agent told me the fence is cut way up there and that it is not uncommon to see trucks like mine sneaking across, filled to the brim with drugs. That's NUTS! There is just one way in and one way out.

I've been going up to these mtns. for about 3 years now and yesterday was the most and best security I had ever seen up there! Very glad to see it!

Here's to our BP Agents.......Fighting the Unknown War!
