Hey guys I have been lurking on here for way to long, time to make a contribution. My goal was to make a drawer system that would hold my tools and guns that I could also use as a sleep platform. I will also be adding a small wood stove and some other odds and ends. HERE WE GO!
First thing first, make a box. I used 3/4" plywood for everything. I used bicuits, glue, and 1 1/2" decking screws (countersunk) on every connection.
After exploring options and alot of insight from fellow members I decided to use square tubing and bearings for the drawer slides.
I used this drill guide to make the holes for the bearing bolts perfectly straight through the wood so that the bearings would ride perfectly flat against the square tubing.
Getting there.
Bedlined
Got the drawers cut and mounting the tubing.
Doesnt get any closer than that!
Slides perfect with no noticable droop at full extention.
