Anyone done an E350 roof remove/replace

Just as the title says, I'm looking at a 2000 15-pass 7.3 with serious rust in the roof only (not the gutters or body or wheel wells, ONLY spots on the roof, about 15 half-dollar sized holes).

Looking at fixing all the individual holes and primer and bedliner is one option, the other is a new roof. Anyone know anything about pulling a whole roof off?

Thanks in advance, hopefully this all results in a 4x4 build thread :)

Not much help on the remove and replace..................but your van sounds like a perfect candidate for a high top! The junkyards in my area sell them for like $100-120. Just a thought!

It would be a great candidate, no doubt. My plans involve keeping the profile low as much as possible...for now at least...

One option is a Sportsmobile type penthouse roof. There are several several up fitters that do this type of work. GTRV in Canada has the lowest roof line. ANother is Colorado Camper Van.

To be honest the average Joe Schmo has no idea if I have a high top van or a regular van... It's rather amazing how little people know about vans.
In other words get a high top and don't worry about it it's worth every penny having that head room.

Id just repair the holes and call it good. The time and effort replacing the top because of a few hole isn't worth it. Im not sure if you've though it through but you have 2 options separate the top from the ribs then cut out and remove or cut out the ribs and replace with new ribs/top. I wouldn't do it and I cut tops off all the time.

I think repair is gonna be the way to go. Love the pop-tops but it's not in the cards for this van. Thanks for all the responses, time to start a build thread!
